odims_sphere Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 To have a Labret start to grow over the jewelry back inside your lip? does that mean that the bar is to short? It's a full size back, not one of those micro ones. The piercer tolds me that it's normal to have the back grow into the labret and become flush but she didn't say anthing about it growing over.
Rayne Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 I don't tink it's normal to have it grow OVER. Phee's lipring is too tight ... we have to go later today and get it changed.
Lilith Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Yes from what i here it is normal, i had a friend who had this happen to him but he never once took the Jewelery out or changed it since it was pieerced the first time and he did not remove the grown in jewelery his untill he had too. I think he used and exacto knife ti slice slit. I would think if you do not want this to happen Change the jewelery on a regular basis or just remove it when you clean the pierceing, also a hoop will stop this so perhaps when you are not doing much around the house stick a hoop in for a bit of a change. Edit...... I should say it is normal if you never remove your labret stud/spike. If you change the rings and such it does not happen.
ManicQueen Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 I've never had that happen to me and I've had my labret pierced for years.
Homicidalheathen Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 That is not good. My daughter had to have a earing cut out at the doctor. Her skin in a way rejected it and just swallowed it! The skin grew over it real quick so we got it cut out. I think a bigger gage.......longer bar.....repiercing.
Ginevra Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 I don't have any practical experience with piercings other than the ears. However, the only time I've seen a piercing grown over was when my younger sister kept playing with her earrings and finally got the back smushed on so tight, the front of the earring was pulled into the ear and had to be surgically removed. You say you have a large back on the piercing but are you pushing the piercing too tightly? Perhaps a ring/hoop would help out some.
Brenda Starrr Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 I think you should have that looked at, odims.....
odims_sphere Posted January 22, 2006 Author Posted January 22, 2006 Thanks everyone. I talked to my brother about it, he did piercings for a couple of years, he said that the bar is to short and pulling the back into the labret to much. A longer bar will help out a lot. It's normal to have it sink in a little, but not to grow over.
