Outsourcing your Homework

Guess it should come as no real surprise or stretch that students (particularly programming students) are out sourcing their homework like a US company would outsource its work.

All though what does this say about learning in general?

Too busy to study for a class? Outsource the work. You may not learn a darn thing, but you might pull off a decent grade. I suppose though this would only really work in classes where the project/homework takes up a large percentage of the class grade as a whole. Like, say my web coding class where homework and my project for the class take up 20 and 40 percent of my total class grade. With attendance pulling another 10% that could be a passing grade for me. Hmmmm... Now to figure out where to get the money for it. :grin

"'If U.S. companies can go online to outsource their programming, why can't U.S. computer students outsource their homework U.S. computer students outsource their homework--which, after all, often involves writing sample programs?' Wall Street Journal colummnist Lee Gomes asks. 'Scruples aside, no reason at all. Search for "homework" in the data base of Rent A Coder projects, and you get 1,000 hits. (An impressive number, but still a tiny fraction of all computer students, the vast majority of whom are no doubt an honest and hardworking lot.)' Some of the Rent a Coder users appear to be outsourcing their way through school, at low costs--probably less than $100 per assignment. The posting are, of course, anonymous, but Gomes traces one to a student at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where an instructor tells him that Rent a CoderRent a Coder contributed to a problem of plagiarism last semester."

Hey that's what a lot of people did in all my Jr. H.S. art classes - they out sourced their art homework to me. For a price. :grin

I looked at it this way -- I helped my fellow students pass art class with A+ averages and I earned money for concert tickets, records, posters, band equipment. :whistling

I made out like a fucking bandit. :devil

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I wouldn't do it even if I did have the money. I want to learn it. If I didn't I wouldn't have taken the class. Besides I never have extra monies just lying around. Hmmmm Maybe I should hire myself out as a tutor or pc tech...
