Onyx Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Well, should have spelled it Axl but on this board you can't edit the title. I remember the first time I saw him (waaaay back on MTV, first time he performed on there, yep, I'm old) he was singing "Welcome to the Jungle" and doing that sinuous snake-dance thing he does. I thought he looked like an escaped mental patient (but still managed to be sexy at the same time - weird). His voice is really rough too, but something about his voice is comforting. Sweet Child o Mine and Patience are calming to me somehow with that rough crackly voice of his. Lately I'm stuck in the 80s. Fixed the title, Onyx - Gin
Brenda Starrr Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 I found him sexy despite his "heroin chic" look. Or was it just plain coked up?
Onyx Posted February 7, 2006 Author Posted February 7, 2006 I found him sexy despite his "heroin chic" look. Or was it just plain coked up? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not sure if it was drugs or hard living or both. It looked good on him though. though, I'm pretty sure he's one of those men who are waaay better in fantasy than reality I don't miss the drugs and the druggies of that era but I miss the hair bands. I miss hair! Dammmit. I love long hair on men - why oh why can't it come back in fashion?
saechalyn Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 I never found him attractive but I was a fan, back in the day.
Hellion Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 :devil Egotistic asshole, music was good at least.
Brenda Starrr Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Axl Rose is a bitch <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah. But I found that bitxh attractive.
paradox Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 i remember when 96.3 played paradise city, like, 6 times in a row one time, or something, way back in the 80s.......
Wounds Within Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Like him or hate him, the guy is a musical genius. I know he is an ass, but the music was a huge influence on me in my younger years. GNR is still my favorite band of all time. My very first concert was GNR when Metallica and Faith No More opened for them at the Silverdome in the summer of 92. I was in 6th grade I believe at the time and it was amazing. I did see the "New" GNR at the Palace in 2002 after Axl made his surprise appearance at the MTV video awards. It was ok, but still nothing compaired to the orginal line up. Rolling Stone reported a few months ago there will be a reunion, but it is not gonna be for a long time because they all have egos. I am not going to hold my breath for this to take place. Todays GNR is made of mostly old members of Nine Inch Nails, and the great Buckethead just recently quit the band (if anyone knows who he is, he is an amazing guitarist) and I am not sure if he has been replaced as of yet. Dizzy Reed still plays keyboards (from the Illusion albums) so he is their longest running member, next to Axl of course. The new album with the new line-up "Chinese Democracy" was supposed to come out years ago, but it has yet to be released thus far. I have downloaded a few really good live tracks off the interent that that are to have the studio version on the up-coming album. That is if it is ever released. I am not holding my breath on this either.
Homicidalheathen Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Always hated him and the band. I thought they just ripped off others riffs.......and I hear lyrics......and treated women like shit. Just.......no.
bean Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 I remember listening to GNR while I was ratting my bangs and spraying them in place with a can of Aquanet. Good times, good times.
phee Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 I found his music, his gay bashing, and his whole confederate thing all very unattractive.
Onyx Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 I found his music, his gay bashing, and his whole confederate thing all very unattractive. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, I do agree he acted like a total asshole. (I still like the music though).
Brenda Starrr Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 I don't like the whole gay-bashing thing. I still thought his rough looks were appealing.

DarkVampire Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 GnR brings back memories of my high school days. =) I remember seeing Welcome to the Jungle on Mtv and thought they kicked ass. They still do a shame they lived fast and died young as a band.

They still do a shame they lived fast and died young as a band. Kinda happy that they went away... It would be sad if the Bigoted ass holes had stuck around...
Rayne Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Yeah, I do agree he acted like a total asshole. (I still like the music though). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My thoughts exactly.
phee Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Why I don't like Axl / GnR: 1,2,1,2,3,4(Whistle) Guess I needed sometime to get away I needed some piece of mind Some piece of mind that'll stay So I thumbed it down to Sixth and L.A. Maybe a Greyhound could be my way Police and Niggers, that's right Get out of my way Don't need to buy none of your Gold chains today I don't need no bracelets Clamped in front of my back Just need my ticket; 'til then Won't you cut me some slack ? You're one in a million Yeah, that's what you are You're one in a million, babe You're a shooting star Maybe someday we'll see you Before you make us cry You know we tried to reach you But you were much too high Much too high, much too high, Much too high, yes, ow ! Immigrants and faggots They make no sense to me They come to our country And think they'll do as they please Like start some mini Iran, Or spread some fuckin' disease They talk so many goddamn ways It's all Greek to me Well some say I'm lazy And others say that's just me Some say I'm crazy I guess I'll always be But it's been such a long time Since I knew right from wrong It's all the means to an end, I I keep it movin' along You're one in a million Oo, you're a shooting star You're one in a million, babe You know that you are Maybe someday we'll see you, Oo Oh, Before you make us cry You know we tried to reach you But you were much too high Much too high, Oo, much too high Yeah, Much too high, huh, no, no, oh Ow! Radicals and Racists Don't point your finger at me I'm a small town white boy Just tryin' to make ends meet Don't need your religion Don't watch that much TV Just makin' my livin', baby Well that's enough for me You're one in a million Yeah that's what you are You're one in a million, babe You're a shooting star Maybe someday we'll see you Before you make us cry You know we tried to reach you But you were much too high Much too high, ow, much too high, Much too high, much too high Yeah, yeee, yeah, yeee, igh ! Ow! Much too high (Oh, much too high, ah, Much too high, ah, much too high Much too high, ow, much too high)
Rayne Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 I've never heard that song. I only have a couple of their CD's. Appetite For Destruction is the best!
phee Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 I've never heard that song. I only have a couple of their CD's. Appetite For Destruction is the best! I had sort of no opinion one way or another until I heard that song... then I had an opinion
Morbid Side Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 He is a has-been. He needs to go shoot some more heroin in his veins and maybe get some more botox done. Weiland is no Axl, but when I saw the King of the Jungle one year at the MTV awards and his god awful sounding voice it was ashame to see a man who once had the true GnR fans eating out of the palm of his hands now trying not to forget about him indefinetly.
