I read an article the other day about a mother that had it so badly she ripped the arms off of her 11 week old baby...

Anyone else hear of these horrendous type stories?

Lillith got me thinking when she posted in my other thread about depressed mothers.

Yeah ew! I was looking this up on the net and found one where a woman left her two babies in the car, during summer, for over an hour while she got her hair done. Both children passed away from the heat.

i am sorry dear i did not mean to make you think abut tose things i was adding info

i have heard of stories like you metnioned on the news but nothing like that in my personal life...well there was a story about when my mom was born, i guess my grandma had problems and my mom had to live with her aunt for a long time but i am not sure if that was post partum or not..

when i had my daughter i might have had it but it was not bad i was just down for the longest time but i still loved my little girl and now that i look back i may have not held her as much as i did the boys but she did get held while feeding n when she creid. I dont know maybe i should have held her more.....

like i mentioned the only thing i have personal experiance about is brains cousin, she was bad, she swore up and down her new born son hated her, she knew it and could not bring her self to care for him, it was crazy...... she should have gotten medical help but she did not. She did not bond with the kid and now that he is 9 he is a hand full and actually says he hates her now. I, in a way feel sorry for her and the kid. it is just sad.

it is also scary to know that you may not have control over anything you do because being pregant and giving birth can cause so many changes in a woman it is unreal. A woman can actually become some one else shortly after giving birth some oen she never would have thought of being. it is just scary

As far as I know, this woman was not suffering from PPD. She was either careless or just didn't care at all.

Have there been any updates on this? I lost track of the story some months ago.

That woman who drowned her kids had PPD with psychotic features. She begged her husband not to make her have any more kids because she had had it before, it had kept getting worse with each kid, and she was afraid of totally losing it after the next one. Which she did.

It's really sad.

Those are some pretty extreme cases. A few weeks after I had my daughter, I had a mild case of PPD. I pretty much slept all the time, I couldn't take care of her so my family had to step in. I remember crying all the time for no reason. I never tried to hurt myself or the baby.. I think it was because I was 16 and this was all new to me and also she was born with a heart defect, which was corrected when she was 4 months.. I got over it within a month thanx to the meds I was put on.

I just hope I don't go throught that again with this child.. I know it was hell on my family.
