Rayne Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Freaked out by the huge hairy spider that has been living in my car. We took some advice from a friend and went out with a flashlight at night and caught him. Oh, I had resigned myself to having to live with him and named him Frank.

Greatful for the laugh this gave me. I have this vision of you and Phee catching the spider. And I'm Feeling glad for Rayne, that she no longer had to coexist with Frank.

He must have made his decision based on looks. That or he liked the frequent flyer miles.

Curious as to what Phee and Mel are going to do with their new caught friend.
jynxxxedangel Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 That appears to be either an Araneus, or an Argiope species. Definitely a female, so she's a Francine. I would let her go in a grassy field someplace. She would be happiest there, as adult orb-weavers don't do well in captivity. I'm feeling happy that Rayne and Phee didn't squash her like most people would have.

Does Progressive cover spider infestations? Seriously, I had tiny white spiders in my last car. It was winter, and we saw them in the dead tree I used to park in front of, so I think they migrated to my car trying to stay warm from the engine heat. In the process they infested it. They would crawl out of the vents, but they were tiny little things.
Guest Megalicious Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Like I'm so TIRED, and I need to sleep, I just can't. I hate feeling like this.

They would crawl out of the vents, but they were tiny little things. I did some more research on her, and I'm pretty sure she is a Neoscona species, most likely "crucifera" http://bugguide.net/node/view/163696 http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/in569 . Nice find! In spite of her large fangs, she is very unlikely to bite. If she laid eggs, there would be a large, round egg sac, on which she would have been sitting to protect it. From my observations, these spiders don't lay eggs until early autumn. She may very well be gravid, though! She has a good-sized abdomen. She would probably appreciate being released someplace near water, where there are cat-tails and bull-rushes for her to build her webs on. I actually have one of those tiny white spiders in my menagerie, as of late. I collected it one morning from the bark of an elm tree in my friend's backyard. It is very small, with a white abdomen; there are six tiny black spots visible on the far end of the abdomen, close to the spinnerets. The legs are translucent sage green, and there are also dark green V-shaped markings on its underside. I have NO idea what this one is, but it's currently living in my ginormous aloe plant, and eating all the plant lice. It appears to be some sort of orb-weaver, but I'm not sure if it's an adult, or a spiderling. Sure is feckin' small, though! I think it might be a juvenile Arianella displacata. Now, back to the topic... I'm feeling like I need to go to the park tomorrow, to look for some more new specimens! I have a couple of new vacancies at the Crawl Inn!
TitsMcGee Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 I kinda feel like I got hit by a truck. I had to take the trash out at work tonight in the middle of a down pour so I was soaked to the bone the rest of the night. All my muscles are very sore.
phee Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 At werk.............................................
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 That someone needs to fix my lawn mower... and it seems that I may jus be that one. I don't want to.
phee Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Like I have been called "you people" for the first time today

Enishi Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Depressed, I hate it when I come across the wrong way to people...
Enishi Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Relieved. *lets out such a monumental sigh that he looses balance, falls over and bangs his head* oww...

jynxxxedangel Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 A toothache. I think I 've cracked yet another crown, from my teeth constantly being on edge. Two Vicodin 700's aren't even touching it, and I still have to work tonight-- no matter what.
TitsMcGee Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Like taking a long drive to clear my jumbled mind. Some days it's not worth getting out of bed.
Guest Megalicious Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 A little less tired, like I need to do the dishes, like I'm missing someone, like I need something, I just don't know what it is. I'm feeling beautiful, for now particular reason. Like I want to go down and get strawberry milkshake whoppers. I should have got some when I was at the store today.
Guest Megalicious Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Stress, I just realized, Fall Semester is starting SOON! I do this at the begining of every semester, there is always this horrible pressure to keep my 4.0, it will pass, but for now I'm going to be pulling out my hair.
Rayne Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Like I wish I could attend fall semester but even with the grants and childcare grants that left me in a spot that I couldn't afford right now. But now I don't have to stress about keeping up my grades at two schools, but it will mean it will be harder to get into the bigger school like I want. I'm very tired and I have heartburn from the awesome dinner I made. And I also owe Meg a HUGE thank you!
