Fierce Critter Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted about this before, but I think my source for a copy of XP fell through. I have a laptop that had a legit copy of XP Pro installed. In readying it for sale to someone else, I attempted a re-install of XP with a disk that ended up corrupted. So now I have NO OS installed at all. Does anyone have a copy of any OS I could install on this thing just so I can show prospective buyers that it does, in fact, work? XP would be nice, but at this point, I'd take ME, 2000, hell - even 98 if I have to. I can pay you to mail me a disk. Thanks.
Scary Guy Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I'm tellin ya FreeBSD, it's what the apple OS is based off of and it will at the very least show that it works.
Fierce Critter Posted March 20, 2006 Author Posted March 20, 2006 I appreciate that, SG. If I can't get a copy of Windows, I'll fall back on that. But I'm thinking the version of XP I've got here that I thought was "corrupted" is actually an UPGRADE. So if I can get a copy of an older Windows OS, I might be able to use this disk to upgrade it back to what it had originally. I have a prospective buyer, but they need to know XP will work on it. It did for the 3 years I've had the laptop, but I understand they're wanting to be sure about what they're buying.
Soulrev Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Go to bearshare.com download bearshare and search for a copy of XP, they're all over the place but only useful to ya if you've got broadband. If you've got dialup then maybe I could mail you a CD.
