Who is old enough to miss them? I saw all my first Horror films at the Algiers in Westland or at the Wayne Drive-In on Michigan Ave. I started going when I was about 3, my parents were Horror film fans. I really had fun partying there when I was a teenager too.

I will give the Quo-Vadis a R.I.P too.

I love Drive-In's they are great ... we still have them where I grew up, not as many as there were when I was a child, but still a few.

Is the one on Ford & Wyoming still around? I go to Maryland in the Summer and there is a drive-in right outside of Toledo.. I never want to be driving at that stage of the trip so I can see it form a passenger view. I should just pull over or something. :blushing

Oh, don't get me started on California. I lived there for a couple years in the 90's , loved it. I was in Torrance for a while, then Hollywood. I miss it. :wink

Bleh on L.A. Lived there a year in 1991. Too many self-centered people...

The Ford-Wyoming theaters are still there. DGN night at the drive through??? Heh!

Saw E.T. with my dad, it was cool.

Then in recent years I went with some other friends and saw a few flicks. This was back when Dragonheart was new. Forgot what all else I saw there though.

I miss meeting people who were just there hanging out and talking due to lack of anything better to do.

there is still a drive-in in Dearborn which may be the one you guys are talking about and there is one at the Pontiac Silverdome in the parking lot.

As for the Quo-vadis, I am sure I spelled it wrong, but yeah that place was great. Why did it close? What about the Mai Kai theatre in Livonia? It turned into the George Burns theatre (live performances, the Supremes played there) and now it is a car lot. Down the street was the Terrace - now a car lot. Down the street a little more was the Wonderland Mall which had a theatre and that was torn down. So now the people living on Plymouth road in Livonia have nowhere to see a movie. Well, unless they drive somewhere not on plymouth road. but still.

I blame President Bush.

last time i went to a drive in it was the flintstone's movie and jurassic park. it started with the flintstone's and i fell asleep and woke up near the end of jurassic park. i was SO confused. i was thinking, i didn't know the flintstone's movie was going to turn so violent and *real* then i woke up a bit more and realized i missed pretty much both of the movies entirely. :p

I remember the Jolly Roger in Dearborn on Van Born Rd. There used to be an indoor and drive in theater in Southgate next to each other where Meijers is at now. Can't remember the name of the drive-in but my buds and I used to go there alot when we were in high school. The Ford-Wyoming drive in on the Dearborn Detroit border is still there. Think it has 6 screens now.

The Ford-Wyoming is still very much alive and well. Sketchy, for sure, but alive and well. I heard that the Compuware arena in PLymouth was going to start showing drive-in movies, but I'm not sure if that ever happened.

My family use to go to the old Wayne drvie-in on Michigan ave (now a Ford plant) through out the 70's and early 80's. Lots of memories and seen a lot of cool movies there. Last time I went to a drive-in was in 89 or 90, the Ford Wyoming drive-in in Dearborn.

Nope, it was all Wayne theatre. They plowed it all and put up the Ford plant around 87 or 88. My brother in law works there.
