Der Nister Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 Damn I'm hurting. My allergies have been giving me hell these past few days and now I have this nagging cough. Earlier I coughed a little too hard and felt this sudden sharp pain in my mid chest and mid back area. Now I'm in pain. :tear I couldn't hardly move without searing pain in my upper torso. Took some pain killers and now it just feels like someone's pushing in my sides from under my arms. Did I mention --- allergies suck!
Miranda Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 That sucks, I hope you feel better. Don't let that go too long. You may want to see a Dr. if it worsens especially if the feeling is new to you. =(
Der Nister Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 This much pain in this area is very new to me. I can't move my arms away from me without feeling sharp pain. Leaning back hurts -- leaning forward hurts. I won't even think about moving from side to side. Sitting straight up is my only option right now. I think I pulled a bunch of muscles all at once. Every movement has to be done slowly. This sucks. :doh

Der Nister Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 It was after the cough that I started hurting. It's all in my lower rib cage area. I haven't had any prior injeries in that area before this so I know it's strictly releated to the coughing.
Der Nister Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 I mentioned allergies sucked first. :-P <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes you did.
Miranda Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 The flu can make your entire front ache like a bitch. You have any symptoms of that? It can do some really bad things to your body, that you wouldn't even think. Here are the differences of a cold & the flu; Cold: Starts with scratchy throat, usually followed by sneezing and a runny nose. Can include, cough, fatigue and a high fever. Flu: Can include scratchy throat, runny nose. Will include fever, severe body/abdominal pain, headaches, chills and fatigue. Got that from my medical book. Good luck.
Kit Kat P Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 It is possible to pull or wrench muscles by coughing too hard. I was telling my mom (a nurse) that I didn't know what I did to wrench my body and that's what she told me. I had been coughing so hard that previous nite i had been throwing up.
Der Nister Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 Thanks Miranda -- I'm pretty sure it's not the flu or a cold. My allergies always kick in this time of year. Running nose and stuff and then I have a cough for a few days then it's all better. But this time I coughed too hard and now I'm in pain like I've never felt before. I don't feel sluggish and have no fever. Also I've never had this kind of pain while being sick so I'm guessing I pulled some muscles. If it persists then I will go see a doctor. Thanks for the help though. =)

Der Nister Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 Maybe it's cancer. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Could be but I'm hoping not.
Der Nister Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 Ok, I took 2 blue pills and it doesn't hurt so much anymore.
ManicQueen Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 It sounds like you pulled your Intercostal muscles.
Der Nister Posted April 28, 2006 Author Posted April 28, 2006 It sounds like you pulled your Intercostal muscles. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> While I'm not familar with muscle names you're prolly correct about that B. This morning I had a hell of a time getting out of bed without feeling pain in my back. I had to use my arms to push myself up and it still hurt some. This must be what senoirs go through. (j/k) :whistling Damn allergies.
honeymustard02 Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 You pulled a muscle between your ribs. Probably a few. My boyfriend did the same exact thing when he had bronchitis and was coughing so bad. Just take an OTC pain killer and try to rest.
Der Nister Posted April 28, 2006 Author Posted April 28, 2006 It is feeling way better than yesterday although laying down was a challenge. I can move my arms without pain which is good, think I'll be healed by tomorrow.

Der Nister Posted April 28, 2006 Author Posted April 28, 2006 That's what happens when you don't keep the lung that you're coughing up on the inside. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is that what that was? :blink Maybe I shouldv'e kept it afterwards. :doh
