If this trip were to happen, would you be able to put down a deposit?

Most (all?) state parks will want a deposit. Brighton sounds good to me, any other reccomendations? Preferably somewhere I can bring my boat with a sandy bottomed lake. Rocks and pebbles aren't good for small fiber-glass boats.

Brighton works for me. Lake is mostly sandy bottomed, nice beach with a nice path from the camp sites to the beach along the water so we don't have to drive to the beach. I have gear just might need a lift. otherwise I'm fully up for a camping trip. I'll find the money to go.

I "camped" near Brighton last summer. We rented a little cottage place. It was cool. The was a pump outside for water, but other then that and bunks with matresses, there were no amenities.

I am willing to contribute.....

I have been out a few days...what is the scoop at this point?

Sounds amusing

I don't camp unless there's room service and a mini-bar.

It's ok. I can only handle a day or 2 of that...then it's all electricity and hot showers for me!

The camp sites at Brighton has showers, bathrooms and electricity to run a radio for music and weather reports. I love to tent camp but I want showers to stay clean in and bathrooms to sit in.

I wouldn't be surprised if we can bring alcohol whereever it is we end up going. Brighton has a restriction barring alcohol during the summer. We should choose carefully- I don't like getting completely trashed when I'm out there, but a Mike's Hard Cranberry or two would be nice.

"Alcohol may not be possessed or consumed from April 1 to September 30 in the Bishop Lake Day Use Area without the written authorization of the park manager."

Never mind- I just noticed it said Bishop Lake Day Use Area. We should be able to have alcohol at the site if I'm interpreting this correctly.

We've never had a problem with alcohol at the campsite. I know you can't take it to the beach and nature trails. So I believe you're right, that it refers to areas other than the campsite.

I have equipment that I can borrow, but after loading my car with it, I won't have much room for other people. I will have room in my tent for at least 2 other people.

Alcohol is allowed at campsites ... just not beaches or day use areas.

Can you say "Michigan has only 1 species of snake and 1 species of spider that is deadly to humans?" :cool
