torn asunder Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 here... i was especially drawn to this statement, in a "wtf??" kind of way... :blink Rice said it was time for the Security Council to act if the world body wished to remain credible. "The Security Council is the primary and most important institution for the maintenance of peace and stability and security and it cannot have its word and its will simply ignored by a member state," Rice said. umm... the un has been worthless for quite a long time - what makes them think they can be effective now!? :blink

The_Dark Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 I think the statement above it is the key. Trying to give some legitamacy to the UN.
phee Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 I think the statement above it is the key. Trying to give some legitamacy to the UN. It's sort of a double standard though as we ignored them when we went into Iraq, kind of making them appear not legitimate at all...
torn asunder Posted April 28, 2006 Author Posted April 28, 2006 and saddam ignored them (the un) for how many decades!? :erm my opinion, the un is already fucked, and will never be anything, but if they don't take a major stand now, they're going to be way beyond repair... :erm

phee Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 well seeing as to how we sold them these things oh about 10 years ago, how are we supposed to remain credible Closer to 20 years but very true
Mikielikesit Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Does this seem to remind anyone of anything.......to me it looks like the set up of a push to go into Iran just like we did in Iraq.....maybe i'm just paraniod but it does look that way to me....... :blink
The_Dark Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Not really. The differance here is that it's not us pushing forward to war. This time it's Iran doing all the pushing... Selling who what? Iran? We have not sold Iran anything since the Iran Contra thing 30 years ago and even then the people that were involved got in a lot of trouble. We have had no real contact with iran since 1979.
