Doctors seem stupid to me sometimes

One says you need to take a laxative everyday so you don't hurt your bowls anymore than they already are. Thats why I had to fix your anus, constipation caused this.

The other says not to and that if I do get dependant I will have no where to go as far as finding something that works when I really do get sick.

I think the second one is right......things should work on a healthy diet and natural fiber for the most part.

I wish I could get them both in a room to talk to each other.

I don't think I want to need a laxative everyday until I am like in my 70's, thats how old my grandma was before they put her on a daily.

I'd agree with going with the fiber and healthy diet unless you absolutely have to take the laxatives. Sometimes doctors are just plain wrong!

Most can't stick with the healthy diet though so maybe that's why your doc recommended that. Definitely would be better if you can avoid the laxatives.

I had a similar situation with my doctor. I really think overall he's a good physician, but he saw how high my cholesterol was and immediately wanted me on those expensive anti-cholesterol drugs. I asked him to give me a chance at lowering it with diet, and I lowered it within six months. I'm following the south beach diet and plan to be eating that way the rest of my life.

I do not trust most doctors

Day 1: Went to rx to complain about pain in abdomen.

Week 2: Went to get x-ray

3 weeks later: Found out it was large cysts on ovaries and endo

Instead of fixing them, they gave me 90 days of Hormone treatment to shrink growth....which didn't work, only made me INSANE/crazy literally. (I think it was the Wellbutrin, but whatever)

about 2 months into hormone treatment, I refused anymore hormone treatments....couldn't take it anymore....I was going to crack

so they gave me another x-ray to see if hormones worked. it didn't, but I didn't know that until about 2 weeks after the 2nd surgery

The went to see specialist 2 weeks later and consulted.

took them 3 weeks to schedule surgery

then had to wait an additional 3 weeks to have it done.

I just couldn't believe how long it took them to do everything. Would have saved me a lot of sanity in the meantime.

So one doctor says 'your weight is at an all time high, don't gain anymore now, maybe loose 20 lbs.' and the other says 'oh good your weight is up, keep it there...doing good!' Whatever. I will do what feels best for me.
