Finally, it's going to happen:

After a long wait, Seabound will tour North America once again supporting COVENANT on their "Skyshaper Tour 2006" in September.

The current schedule includes about 20 shows in the US and Canada.

Seabound will play highlights from their two available albums "No Sleep Demon" and "Beyond Flatline" as well as unreleased tracks from their third album which is currently in the making.

Details about the tour will soon be revealed on our MySpace site as well as on www.seabound.de.

I love both Seabound and Covenant. I will go to a show if it comes to Detroit.

That is all.

Bye.

Same here. I didn't like Covenant's last album too much, but Seabound can do no wrong by me. That last track, "Scorch the Ground", that was on the Dependent Records Septic VI compilation, is totally wicked!

I will definitely go to that show.

Yes... I am very big on Sequencer - Northern Light... this last one just seemed kind of flat...

just curious, how many times have you listened to it? Ritual Noise isn't one of the top 5 songs on the CD. If you go to other boards, most people seem to like it alot. Most good albums require more than a couple listens you know.

Ditto.

Ritual Noise is a good song, but the rest of the Skyshaper album just doesnt give me the same rush Northern Light does. I'm hoping that if they tour and hit up Detroit, that they play some older work too..... because a live show based off of their latest album.......... who knows how good it's going to be.

Two and a half... I am going to five it another after I have cleaned my pallet... but yeah... it just didn't have the same magic/passion that Northern Light had...

My boyfriend got the new album when it started and we gave it about 4 plays and still couldn't find anything worth keeping it in the cd collection. So, we passed it along only to receive it back again because others didn't like it either. Eventually, we passed it off to somone who enjoyed it. I agree that the album sounds flat. At least to me.

The technical aspects are good... but doesn't give me any goosebumps really... ya know?

Really I like how people listen to something one time and disregard it. Of course, they actually wrote melodies for this one. I don't mind being the only one on here who likes it, because most people (except for Pulsestate, who may be the only person whose opinion I respect on here) who listen to futurepop stuff like it:

6 of 11 people gave it either 4 or 5 stars

"The highs of “Skyshaper” are really highs, and I can go so far as to say that I think “20hz” is one of their best tracks ever."

"While the unpolished nature of 'Skyshaper' drags back into the light the best features of early Covenant, and the album remains a whole a thoroughly enjoyable work"

"Skyshaper is an album on which Covenant have produced not only good tracks, but actually some really good anthems, which is quite an achievement. The tension that crawls under the skin, the beautiful sounds and the great vocals of Eskil make sure the listener will not get bored easily."

"I can't get enough, I've been listening to it nonstop since I first put it in the CD player"

"As a single album independent of their body of work, this is exquisite. The kind of beautifully rendered tracks you would expect from Covenant, but with an overall difference in intention."

2 things....

1st, people are known to spam liking a cd on random forums becuase they belong to a street team and want to help the band with publicity.

2nd, everyone has there own opinion

Posted

Glad people are enjoying it!!! Not trying to change anybodies opinion... just have my own....

it is my opinion that people here don't like it because it's not industrial or heavy sounding. I know everyone has differing opinions but tracks 3 and 4 are two of the best songs Covenant has ever made and I just can't grasp how anyone who is into synthpoppy stuff wouldn't like it. The first time I listened to it I was unimpressed, it sounded boring. By the 4th time I thought it rocked.

Slaugh, most of those links I gave were from reviews, not message boards. It also got a nice write up in Gothic Beauty.

I don't know, I've been disappointed by a lot of new releases lately. I think the only thing that's caught my attention at all that's recent is "Karmacode" by Lacuna Coil. I think it's VERY well done.

I've listened to the Covenant album much more than 5 times. I really WANT to like it. But personally, I just think it's terrible. I don't even really like Ritual Noise that much...I think it's just kinda meh. Again, my opinion.

I've listened to this song multiple times...and of course, other people have their own opinions and their own likes/dislikes. I cannot STAND how they did the beat to this song. I cannot help but get the feeling the entire song is off tempo for more than half the song. It sounds like a cluttered mess any time the beat is involved in the track. That, and the fact that it's so reminscent of "Like Tears in Rain" with different vocals.

Call me what you will, but I'd replace "unpolished" with "unfinished/incomplete." I remember when they had up some demo tracks on the site, and I seem to recall there were a few up there that I don't think made the album, and I thought they were the strongest of anything that was being played with. That being said, I could be wrong, and I'm fine with that too.

I must admit, especially on the third or fourth listen, that I was more and more bored with the vast majority of the album when I wasn't frustrated with it.

"As a single album independent of their body of work." Alright, I'm sure some people do this, but I've never listened to ANY artist and liked an album just because I like them. Some of my favorite artists have released albums I thought were quite subpar....I guess I don't understand how someone could just idly LIKE something. And again, I'm still not hearing it. It's a band a like. It's a CD I WANTED to like.

But I didn't like it. And not only that...I think it's b-a-d.

My favorite band is Tangerine Dream.... so as far as not liking something because it's not "industrial or heavy"... well um yeah....

Posted

Fair enough. I think it's great. Their earlier albums, in my opinion, are very uneven, a few good songs and alot of generic dance filler. This is the first one that sounds like an album to me.

I also agree with what you just said...that "uneven feeling on older albums."

That being said, my favorite band of the moment is and has been Within Temptation for some time now. Been watching that live DVD of the Silent Force tour regularly for a few months. Yum.
