I answer the phone and take orders for a tooling store.  But I want to get out of that eventually and do CNC  (computer numerial control) programing.  I took Metals in high school and i really like doing that.  Not to mention the really hot guys that were in that class.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I also plan on taking CNC courses at Macomb Community College also.

Sure it is if you can find work/customers, if not you just don't get paid.

sure the money is one thign, but I'm just getting too old to follow the leader, its just not satisfying anymore. I want to do my own thign for the pleasure of being self sufficient and being able to write my own schedule....then I can play with laura more, and me and the boyz (my bandmates) can stir up more trouble.

I deeply respect self made people. Even if they are not making big bucks. I respect the courage to do it alone.

A lot of you guys sound like you have pretty cool jobs. I teach private and group music lessons, fun and rewarding, but I don't get anywhere near enough work to live off the income. I want to be a desk monkey so I can pay off debt and post on BBs while i'm at work... Right now I can't do that =P

The majority of my job involves performing surgical monitoring to prevent neurological deficits post-op... the rest is out-pt and in-pt work such as diagnosing seizures, CVAs (strokes), etc...

I'm a "just in case bitch". I drive to Troy to sit around for 4 hours waiting for a server to have issues. If it doesn't before my 4 hours are up then I drive home and do on-call work for 4 hours. Trust me it is the mosty boring thing around.

Yes that means I get paid for 8 hours of sitting on my ass and do nothing.

I draw pretty pictures of cars.  :-)

Let me expound on this a bit...

I draw cars, yes. I also prepare technicals drawings. I sketch parts small and large as well as showing through art how they are put together and how they work. I use digital tools to make photorealistic renderings of my designs. I have a rudimentary knowledge of how to recreate those designs using 3D software. (Most designers graduating for the past 15 years know this straight out of school.) I solve design and engineering problems. (Since the engineers seem incapable of doing it a lot of the time) In fact, our education helps us work through the process of solving all kinds of problems, completely unrelated to design. Creativity is the key thing here. Thinking "outside the box". or however you care to phrase it. I make color and material choices. I have a decent knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes. I tend to manage my own projects and am capable of doing so for others.
