Who will win the 2006 Nobel award for Economics?

In 2005 it was won by Robert J. Aumann and Thomas Schelling for their thesis on conflict and cooperation through game-theory analysis. Aumann is a Jew and Schelling is an American.

In 2004 it was Edward Prescott (whom I've mentioned here before) and Finn Kydland for their theories on macoeconomics.

Any early guesses on who will win later this year? I guess it doesn't mean much since Yassar Arafat won the Nobel award for peace and Joseph Stalin was nominated for a Nobel peace prize. (Clinton was nominated after bombing Kosovo and George W Bush was nominated after the Iraq war - strange but true).

Sure as hell won't be me. Failing economics helped me lose my Merit Scholarship to Wayne State in my first year.

Being able to say "Supply and Demand" may make one an economist, but it doesn't get you an A in the class.

and by the way, I tried to write 2 "senior mods" about changing my name but neither replied so I went ahead and created a new one. So I am Disconnection. Blackmail is offially put to rest as of tonight.

on topic, Prescott rules but perhaps Harry J. Holzer from Georgetown University should be considered. I disagree with alot of what he has to say but his studies on economic policies affects on poverty in the U.S. seem fair and compassionate.

I realize I am the only one who cares about this. But what can you do?

Personally I'm gonna try to get Feirce Critter on the ballot.

If I win, is there a cash prize involved? At least a medal or trophy I can hock?
