Dressing Goth I get the accusations of being gay, bisexual, a satan worshipper, but most of all someone who wants attention. I'm 29 and love and participate in the gothic music, make-up and fasion, but most of all mentallity.

I am not completely convinced that people don't exacerbate their own "gothiness" and possible unrelated depressive issues by immersing themelves in the stereotypes of the culture. The clothing, art, music...well, they don't generally encourage shiny happy people.

I have found this in my own life. I am a fan of Leonard Cohen, many of the songs that I listen to on the CD I have are heavy on loneliness and negative relationships. Recently, I realized that when I listen to him, at first I feel some comfort in the idea that I am not alone but eventually I find that continuing to listen is dragging out the lonelyness.

I also believe that gansta rap music has too much influence on it's listeners and contributes to violence and other problems among it's listeners.

Eh, I've always been morbid. Back when I was 10, 12 years old (and yes, I was already listening to the Sisters of Mercy, thanks cousin Bill), my schoolmates would always complain that they couldn't wait until they were 16 to get their driver's licenses. I would think that that was stupid, to wish for something like that, because it just meant that you'd be that much closer to dying.

My point? Some of us are just naturally morbid.
