:devil Well I had and interview for a position in plastic welding, everything went well,so far, just waiting for the call.I myself have never done this kind of work.

During the interview I asked if I could try a practice weld,so the one foreman let me give it a shot and he said I did a very good job on my first try for not knowing anything, considering I am very good on learning different trades. This job also pays alot more than the one I was laid off from last week.

Was it a sonic welder? I used to use one all the time in the plastics factory... wear ear plugs man. And don't touch it. It may not be hot... but it will burn you to the bone in a heart beat.

I hope it all works out for you, Crank. You deserve a huge break. And no. I have no clue what this is all about.

:devil It is somewhat similar to mig welding but it is much cleaner and much less toxic. let me find the link on it,so you can see what it is all about.

i've worked in plastics for years - the only real things you need to worry about are the fumes (quite toxic) and don't get any molten plastic on you, cuz it really likes to stick, and it's melting point is around 450°F!! :doh

plastics can be a good field, tho.

Hrmmm... never seent hat kind of plastic welding... I have only ever used sonic welders...

and torn... I saw the results of a man clearing a plugged nozzle without his safety equipment and another man pulling that plastic off his face with his bare hands... not pretty.

Mr. McGuire: I want to say one word to you. Just one word.

Benjamin: Yes, sir.

Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?

Benjamin: Yes, I am.

Mr. McGuire: Plastics.

Well! Cleaner, less toxic, more money ~ sounds good.

I know it's a cliche, but sometimes it really IS darkest before dawn. Seems the times in my life when I've been ready to give up is just when the tide turned for me (and sometimes I was so down I messed up good opportunities from not being ready.

If you get this I'd say losing that other job could be a blessing in disguise.

The day labor work Jon and I did in Florida was in plastics factories.

I won't comment. I'll just say good luck, hope it works out for you, Crank.
