And yes, this pandemic started in an unsanitary open meat market in China that was processing a specific species of bat and the area was contaminated within a few hours.
And of course, me being me, I was curious about the fact that is seems like there is some sort of pandemic every 100 years. My research turned up the following text I shared during a family discussion:

Wow, there is literally a pandemic outbreak every 100 years (with the exception of Bubonic Plague aka Black Death aka The Black Plague or "The Plague" which started in Europe and Asia and devastated the world's population from 1347 to 1351, but did not end across the globe until 1750).
1300's = Black Plague
1400's and 1500's = English Sweating Sickness
1620's = Italian Plague
1720's = Bubonic Plague
1820's = Cholera Outbreak
1920's = Spanish Flu
2020's = Coronavirus
Apparently other people are researching the exact same things.

The only thing that has changed is how fast information is shared, globally, regarding outbreaks in the 20th Century and beyond.
