Ok now I know I am missing something with the post Scary Guy made about CC in "The Departed" - what's going on with the Leland and CC??! Damn it I must google now 🤣
Ohhh man ok I read about the owner passing and stuff. That really sucks. I truly hope whoever buys it does so with only the best intentions of preservation. That building is epic. I never did stay there, which is something I think I will now regret for the rest of my life.
I always wanted to just get a room there for convenience but I always let people talk me out of it. People always said "you don't want to stay there" and maybe they were right, but still.
I think the one time I actually tried to get a room there they (front desk) acted like they didn't want my business. And it was like twice the price of a room at one of the airport hotels which was omw home anyway, so I usually stayed somewhere near the airport, if I got a room at all.
But yeah that building has a life of it's own. I will never forget my very first time driving to Detroit to go to the fabled CC. I was awe-struck by the architecture in Detroit to begin with, and then when I saw the building CC was in (Ramada at that time) I *knew* this was going to be good!
I really enjoyed the NYE events where they opened up the place and let us roam about the halls and stairwells and go to the Lab and 54. I remember kicking myself in the ass for not bringing a camera to take pictures of all the neat stuff they had.
Yeah, I just hope the building survives whatever outcome. I hate modern architecture. These old buildings *must* be preserved!
