I loveded that band. I saw Mary Fahl 2 times in AA when she went solo. She has a massive and powerful woman's voice, not a cute bubblehead chick voice.

ever listen to liv's band after theater of tragedy, leaves eyes. its good metal plus its with her husband alex whos taller then, tall, it makes beauty and the beast metal that much better. maby i just like the band so much ever since they played at irock. and i couldnt help but hit on the merch girl who i think was her daughter.

and yes beauty and the beast metal is a genre. nightwish made it popular. but i tend to lump tristania and epica into it. my playlist has tons of female fronted metal. magica bye far is the most unique one as its the few times iv heard a power metal style with a female fronted singer that does not have that gothy feel to it

Leigh Nash from Sixpence, and no I don't like chirstian rock at all!! =( But a psychobilly friend Larry Loved them, and talked me into going to one of their shows at the House of blues in Anaheim and the moment I heard her start to sing Puedo Escribir I got goosebumbs.

She has an amazing voice, and I'm not talking about that damn 'kiss me " song .. :doh

Have you heard the guy Michael Manring (yeah yeah, I know; not a chick)? The inventor of the hyperbass. Check out Thonk (or any other album really, but Thonk is the only one I've heard). It will blow your sox off.

See if you can find anything from a late '80s/early '90s band called Phantom Blue. Speed metal band. Nicole Couch is one of the greatest guitarists I've ever heard and her bandmate (recently deceased) Michelle Meldrum was damn near her equal.

...and check out a Brazilian guitarist named Badi Assad; what she did on her first two albums with just a nylon-string and no overdubs - you won't believe it even once you've heard it.

Sarah McLachlan

She always seems to have a down-to-earth demeaner. She is incredibly feminine - and basically is an example of how feminine does not equal weak. The best song (to my knowledge) is "Black" that appeared on the X-files soundtrack. Also, she started the Lilith Fair and raised about 7-million for charity - that ought to at least merit a mention.

I just discovered her. Her style is awfully erratic, but interesting and well done. I listen to her and I'm constantly saying: Is she trying to be Gwen Stephanie? Is she trying to be Tori Amos? ..... etc. She seems really versitile.

I've always enjoyed her attitude of seriously attempting to make her gender a non-issue (contrary to Sarah McLachlan's approach). At the same time, she partakes in a "scene" that most women (and men for that matter) are afraid (I mean - like REALLY afraid) to be a part of. Her "music" is extreme - really really extreme. (Her opinions are her own.)

She was just in town about 4 weeks ago, handling the alto vocals for Delerium. Wasn't really a fan before then, but she really got it done.

I don't know a lot of Beatles history - but it generally makes me suspicious when people blame a woman for the actions of men. The Beatles decided to break-up. Why not blame the Beatles? I suspect that she has just become a scapegoat beause she is weird and the stereotype of the "woman who takes my male friends away" is easy to lay on her.

In experimental circles, we discuss Yuko in her own right. She's a performance artist who happen to be married to a member of the Beatles. I think one of her more interesting works is when she gave the audience scissors and had them cut off pieces of her clothes. Singing in a burlap sack was pretty fun too.
