Is it Gothic?

i wouldnt really call it gothic. it is the fight between normal people and people that have gone crazy. it is a very out there book. however, i could almost envision this situation happening if the right person got ahold of the right stuff.

I usually dont read books unless they have "white-wolf" stamped on them some where, llol

yeah know what? i completely agree with you when you ask, then again what is normal? it is kinda a philosophy question but in all reality nothing is normal. what is good for on eperson is bad for another. it is all a matter of what people think of themselves. it shouldnt matter what someone else is like. be yourself. pertaining to the novel however, the "normal" people are the ones that havent gone crazy! they still have there wits about them.

I don't like his writing style to be honest. Just something about it. I have read the Dark Tower series, The Green Mile, and Hearts in Atlantis.. Good books but like I said his writing style just doesn't tickle my fancy anymore.

I read him religiously from the 80's through eary 90's.

Then I just got burned out on him and sick of him.

I was particularly turned-off by a particular event in one book. REALLY disturbed me, not because it was scary, but because pretty much, the "day was saved" by a group of prepubescent boys gang-banging a girl. WTF?

I switched to Dean Koontz and much prefer him. But I switch genres frequently based on mood, and haven't been into horror of their type in years.

what book was this? i dont think that i ever read that one! do tell I may just steer far away from that particular novel. However, he does have a very warped sense of thinking. I never denied that.

Screw Steven King

Find a book called Necroscope. It's by Brian Lumley....10 times the writer in my opinion

Clive Barker...... that's all I have to say

lol, that would have been from IT, unless he wrote the same scene into another book (which some authors are fond of doing).

The whole thing was pulpy and unnecessary and I'm pretty sure that's what kept it out of the movie. ;)

I guess I'm disappointed that authors feel they have to resort to including that sort of material even when it doesn't move the plot anywhere, but I'm glad they have the freedom to do so without losing their market.

That's the book.

It was stupid, unnecessary, and so out of left field, it screamed of "Writer's-block-not-knowing-how-to-end-this-book-needs-to-take-a-break".
