:devil There is a birds nest right next to the window air conditioner, and it also has eggs in it.I do not want to kill the things,so does anyone have any ideas?I do not know if animal control charges anything to do it.never had to deal with this before.

Don't need a fire hazard.

from what i understand, usually, if you can place it within a few feet of where it is now, the mother will still find it - i have no idea about animal control, but it doesn't sound like something they'd be involved in...

If you touch it.. . they die. The mother wont come near your scent.

some of them can, turkey vultures, the albatros. . .but most common birds that would nest in your yard have an extremely underdeveloped/nonexistant sence of smell. they rely mostly on sight wich is why if you move it within a couple feet and dont disturb it to much shell most likely come back :)

That's what I was always told too, but we had to move a couple of nests and while moving them one of the eggs fell out. My daughter picked it up and put it back and the birds still came back. We watched her care for the eggs and they hatched fine.

Just be careful not to move it too far away and try to keep the nest as intact as possible.

thats why i said most, i included things like the vulture and albatros in my next post. from what i found tho most places said that the average bird has little of no sence of smell :wink =)

Unfortunately, we live on the second floor. If we move it anywhere, the closest place would be 25 feet below.

do you have a deck? make something to hang off the outside of the railing, and place the nest there - should be out of your way, and mom should still be able to find it! :wink
