Saying goodbye to longtime friends.

The health of two of the cats that have been part of my life for many years took a sudden turn for the worse in the past few weeks. My cat, Tasha, is over 20 years old and I've had her since college days. I thought I might have to put her to sleep yesterday, but after a visit to the vet she's not quite ready to go just yet. The cause of her sudden decline is most likely a tumor near her right shoulder. I hope to spend a few more precious days with her before she gets to a point of discomfort that necessitates ending her long and entertaining life. Harley is the other cat... My daughter's mom and I got her after we were engaged. She's been slowly declining for months due to kidney shutdown. It got much worse recently. A few minutes ago I recieved a call saying she had passed away last night, which we kinda expected. It's been a long time since I've lost a pet, let alone two... I'm far more emotional then I imagined. They provided much love and hapiness to me and will both be missed.

That sucks Marc, I am sorry to hear that, but 20 years is a long time for a cat to live, longer than most, so at least you got to spend alot of time with Tasha and you have my sympathies for your loss of Harley.

Awwww... Marc. Reminds me when lost my fimular Patches, I had him for 16 years. My bro, my budd, my fimular and also known as my cat.

Here is a great support site about loosing a pet.

I'm sorry, Marc. I know how it feels, too, and it's definitely no good.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss Marc - I wish they could be with us for longer!! (bless their wee furry little hearts.)

A picture of my pals. Harley was rather shy (OK she was a paranoid recluse) but she was so beautiful with her long black fur. Tasha was a stubborn and prone to grumpiness... but she was also quite amiable to a hanging out. On her terms... of course.

What sweet cats.

I know that day is coming for my cat too and I dread it. When an animal is special it seems I always want a little more time with them. Death always comes too soon.

Awww what pretty babies...

=(

I'm so sorry hunny!

And remember what I said!

There is an abandoned, or abused little baby that is waiting for you to rescue it and give it a good home! :cat:

Marc, you know I can totally empathize, and I do. There are no words.

If you need anything, PM me.

And if the day does come, soon, that you want to adopt another furchild - not as a replacement, but as another companion to help heal the heart and give you focus for renewed love, let me know - I've got daily access to cats in need.

Thanks Critter and Kelly. Because I can't have pets where I'm at, the cats stayed with my ex. I said hi anytime I was there to see the girls. (Which is often) I think I'm going to take a break from pets for a while anyways. I'll keep your suggestions in mind though. :-)

Im SO SORRY MARC!! I know kitties can become like little sons/daugthers in furry suits. Some ppl may not be "animal" ppl, but to those of us who are lossing one of them is like losing a family member =( I am truly sorry ..

I am SO sorry Marc. I have lost dear furry friends and there are no words for me to express to you that will make the hurt go away. whenever you feel sad though just think of all the happy times that you had with them and know that you were loved by them and you loved them in return. I am truly sorry. its good that you opened up to us because we can definitely help. If you need to talk, dont be afraid to ask. I am here for ya!

Poor Marc. I've lost so many pets over the years and I know it's so very hard. But you've got your wonderful memories that will always be there with you and I bet, judging by your photo experience, you've got some really great pictures of those kitties.

Take care. *hugs*
