Guest Game of Chance Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Personally, I think that god is a metaphor to describe various psychological archetypes that lie hidden within the subconcious of us all. Various myths convey a message about different facets of our own psyche. Ok. Keep it civil, no fighting, but let's hear it...
Paper Hearts Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I don't think there is a god. Iggy Pop is pretty cool though.

Guest Game of Chance Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 you guys know what I beleive. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah but not really. Do you belive that there is a physical entity that literally "watches over" or is it really more Gnostic christianity, explain...
Scary Guy Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 God(s) is/are a/the figurehead(s) of a given religion. God(s) isn't/aren't really all that important, it's the religion that is important as that is what people follow. Religion is a decent concept turned into a mind control device by man. In reality, whatever you believe it should come from within and not be handed to people on a platter.
Brenda Starrr Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I believe there is a GOD. I just do. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So do I.
Homicidalheathen Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Pretty much the same as you but....I believe our minds carry great power and that over time, with collective conciousness.....maybe something is actually 'created' someplace, a force.....power....that dieties are our own creation. Personally, I think that god is a metaphor to describe various psychological archetypes that lie hidden within the subconcious of us all. Various myths convey a message about different facets of our own psyche. Ok. Keep it civil, no fighting, but let's hear it... <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Msterbeau Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I think of god as metaphor too... but not as an archtype. I think of god as those mysteries that I can't explain... and those things that make me say "Oh wow..". Like an amazing sunset. I'm not really concerned with the afterlife, it's what happens in the here and now that matters most... I'm humanist... I believe in people. Although there are days that believing in humanity seems like an exercise in futility. :whistling
phee Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I do not have enough information to make a judgement... but it seems very unlikely
Hellion Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 :devil This is my god.. I myself do not believe in something I think does not exhistIMO, considering there are so many religions in the world.
AstralCrux Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Well, I think that the religions are based somewhere along the same wavelegnth. The flood myths for example exist in almost every world religion, so we do see some overlap. God seems to be more like a system or two rather than an entity most of the time. I mean like the systems of karma and life lessons. You can take that as God acting or showing us a path or see it as systems put down to help us by a God that lets us choose our own path. Either way there is some effect. It's kind of like God is some amount of stregnth and power that exists, in part, in all of us.

ZhukovCodeslinger Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 If there was a god, I would be getting a lot more anonymous head.
Steven Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I beleive in a singular diety made up of three distinct personalities and forms. I beleive I am limited in my attempt to fully grasp the compexity of the who what how when why of GOD - yet I beleive that God does indeed oversee all things, yet does not always cause all thigns to be, yet allows all things to be, and is the source of all things that are.....both good and evil. I beleive that fate and predestination are interchangeble things that exist outside of the framework of time and decay, and do not conflict where God exists. They simply conflict as concepts inside of our limited capabilities as men. I beleive there are so many religions and theories and pursuits of spirituality in general because man in general has a void he seeks to fill that he or she is born with. I do not beleive in religion and unchallenged dogma. and I beleive that those who "logically" conclude that if there truly was a GOD then this that and the other would or would not take place are missing the point. Because if there is a GOD, well....he's god, and you aint. he does not yeild to you nor is he obligated nor does his existence and mannerisms have anything to do with a decaying and limited human perception.

Paper Hearts Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 personally, in all honesty, i am god... :fear <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't believe in you.
Der Nister Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 I was thinking about this the other day. Here's my take on the whole God issue. The bible says the following (in general) God created Lucifer - Lucifer turned on God and a battle in the heavens took place and then God dammed Lucifer to hell. Ok- if God destroyed sodom and gamora and turned that guys (can't remember names) wife into a piller of salt for looking back - why did God not destroy lucifer? It would seem God couldv'e destroyed lucifer. So, none of that makes sense. It also seems odd that at a certain point in our history God decieded to stop talking to us (his children) ---- why? Are none of us good enough to be spoken to? It doesn't make any sense that all of a sudden God no longer has anything to say. And third -since God already knew we would be such fuck ups (he knows all you know) then why did God not fix our asses to eliminate any future problems? Yea - that doesn't make sense either. But it sure does leave a lot of questions.
