BrassFusion Posted July 31, 2006 Author Posted July 31, 2006 Yeah, I know. I live in dork-ville/emo-town/hipster-jackass-province. Also known as Grand Rapids. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> thought that was east lansing
HipsterDufus Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 thought that was east lansing <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sadly, it's becoming all of America. I went clothes-shopping with my wife (at the mall, no less) and everywhere we went was emo (or hoochie) clothes. She hates the emo-crap, so she wound up getting nothing. That's how wide-spread it's become. Not to thread-jack. So, yeah, ummmmm, blood.
Rayne Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Can't. I've got severe Anemia. They don't want mine ... in fact, they don't want ME to have mine either. I am O Negative as well though.

Rayne Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 do you take multivitamins, or anything to regulate your um... girl stuff... you know... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am on Niferex for the Anemia ... and have been on and off birth control at times when my blood level drops, despite the fact that I don't need it for birth control reasons (tubal). They have me on it for three straight months back to back to keep me from bleeding and dropping even lower. They are putting me back on birth control again next week. Couple reasons ... my Anemia is dropping my blood level again ... and I'm having some issues with some other stuff. Blood transfusion has been mentioned PLENTY of times in my past ... and present honestly. Despite not having the insurance to cover it ... they can only guarantee me a 30% chance it will work any better than what I'm at now.

phee Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I would never give my blood to the red cross... you guys know that they turn around and SELL that to hospitals right? They are a PROFIT organization... If you want my advice to actually donate your blood, instead of giving it to a company to make money off of.... give it directly to the hospital... they are happy to help you there.

phee Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I was under the impression that the Red Cross was a non-profit and that the hospitals were making the money. nope.... I remeber trying to figure this out after 9/11 when several red crosses in the area in 2002-2004 (arbor ypsi) put up new buildings... when I inquired with an acquaintence who worked for them he stated that they made a lot of money from the surpluss of donations due to 9/11.
BrassFusion Posted July 31, 2006 Author Posted July 31, 2006 that doesn't mean that there are ceo's and shareholders reaping the benefits. nonprofits can still make money, they just have to keep their greedy hands off it. and all the money in the world can't buy blood if no one goes under the needle.
