Altered Photos

Has anyone read anything about the altered photos that Reuters was showing?

I find it funny that the picture of the Isreali jet dropping a flare keeps being refered to as attacking... um... flares are used as a counter measure against surface to air missles... The plane dropped one... they altered the photo to show 3 or 4.. depending on which site you see the photo on... anyway.. they keep referingto it as an attack... Do they think we are stupid?

It's called propaganda, and it's nothing new. Most journalisim these days is yellow.

You really can't trust any news source because to have a trustworthy news source requires it to be impartial. The only way for news to work is to get it from all sides (yours, theirs, and a third party) then make up your own mind.

That's not what I heard... They said AP/Reuters "retracted" the photos when they found out they were fake. They said they would no longer be using the photographer that took/altered them. Their speculation was the guy did it to "make a better picture"... One flare or four.. They're still flares used for aircraft defense... anyone vaguely knowledgable about combat aircraft would know that. I'm going to assume that the editors at whatever news sources were the ones who interpretted it to be attacking. They outta know better too.

I probably should have elaborated more. You are correct. They did say that they retracted the photos. However, I am 99% sure that they said that the counter-measures were being used to attack. If I'm wrong, I apologize. Either way, the basic fact remains that they allowed what they admitted to be amateurish edit jobs slip through their screening. It sounds just like plain laziness to me. In these times, the last thing that I want are lazy journalists.

Hahha.. The photographer, Adnan Hajj is a pretty shitty Photoshop operator. I can't believe Reuters let that through.

.... well you can attack with the defensive flares (which are shot out in large groups, each set to a different IR frequency ). The problem with attacking with the flares is that the aircraft would have to be so low that the ***helpless victims on the ground*** could throw rocks at the planes and take them out...

as for my murderous little muslim comment, that was not even directed at this latest "war to destroy israel" issue. Every woman who posts on this board would be at risk if they were muslim. THere would be a good chance that someone in your family would kill you to save the family honor... Many women have had their throats cut by close family members for far less than being associated with "gothic people".... Allah forbid they actually go to a place like city club (places like city club are for the boys... who then feel guilty and fly planes into buildings to prove to Allah that they are not bad)

Yeah, pretty sure not all Muslims are assholes. I dated one a few times, nice guy, but not the brightest. I worked with a few muslims too, back at my old fiberglass job. They were the sweetest guys you could know. We didn't really speak too much of the same language, but it worked out cuz our supervisor was Chaldean and bilingual, so he translated.

These guys would do shitty work for other people just to help them out, and they prayed at every break. Not just folding your hands praying, getting out the cardboard, pointing it to Mecca, kneeling down, standing up, kneeling, standing, bowing, kneeling, standing, etc. etc. etc.

And they didn't seem to have a problem with the way I dressed, when I let my hair down and gothed out after a shift before going out to the bar. Maybe it's because they realized they were in our country and should respect our culture and customs... hmm...

Or maybe they just thought I looked hot. The one guy knew enough english to say I had nice hair. he wanted me. too bad he was a damn dirty muslim and I'm a pristine WASP.

its good that people try to make concessions during emigration. and expected the US and UK to be like some other country they came from.

it really pisses me off when people refuse to accept the way people are when they emigrate here. and that goes for that californian woman who used to berate us on our lunch breaks at uni (she ended up in the fountain and that was the last we saw of her)
