sinmantyx Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Thought I would share some of my faves that I haven't heard around here... Exit Mindbomb (local) Cruciform Injection (from Chicago, may have heard of them?) Kompressor (absolutely hilarious) Covenant of Thorns (not new, but absolutely lovely...he also has newer material here) PSYDOLL (I heart japanese industrial) Tapping the Vein (for those who like a lovely voice) That 1 Guy (and now for something really different) hehehe...I'll post some noise later
Fierce Critter Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 I'm not going to post a link, 'cause I don't know where the ultimate place to go for this would be. I briefly checked out Nick Drake's website to see if it would be helpful, but you can decide for yourself. If you haven't heard Nick Drake, you should. Particularly if you like brooding guitar music. If you can find a download of "Day is Done", please allow yourself that bit of perfection in your life. And avoid at all costs the Norah Jones remake. Love her, hate the remake. I highly recommend the 4-CD boxed set. It has everything he ever did on it. The newest release is a compilation of things that appear on the CD's in that set, with one undiscovered song added. probably better off downloading that one song rather than waste the $$ on what are basically all re-releases otherwise. (Note to mods: don't know if it's my browser or what, but for some reason I can't post links right now. If you want to edit this to add the link above, please do. Thanks.) Edited for linkage - Gin
sinmantyx Posted February 16, 2005 Author Posted February 16, 2005 Spyder Baby <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He reminds me of this band: Die Symphony If of course, die symphony had sex with the members of jack off jill and their children put out an album.
Jarodaka Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 MAN, Incorporated (warning, Flash and music splash).
phee Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 hungryghost Kinda gothy/southwestern/triphop/asian/electronic/country music.... a little like the band snog
Jarodaka Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 More Machine Than Man backandtothleft (they're opening for Assemblage 23 on their current tour)
Jarodaka Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Many free MP3s courtesy of A Different Drum. Includes A Covenant of Thorns that sinmatryx mentioned as well as Somegirl and many others. Very 'pure' synthpop, though, so if it's not your thing, well, ignore this post then.
sinmantyx Posted March 18, 2005 Author Posted March 18, 2005 For all you dark metal people: IMBORTIR I saw them down in Dayton...great guys...and CUTE! They do a great job, brings the whole screaming death metal thing to a new level, and the Scandinavian in me loves the norse themed CD they just put out.
Daniel Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 That 1 Guy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I booked this guy last year! Helped his girlfriend sell about three dozen CDs in an hour. I definitely second the recommendation, and even more recommend getting out and seeing him live.
