Am I the only one who finds this incredibly disturbing? I was reminded of this because of the transracial adoption thread, however it's been on my mind for a long time.

If you look back at NIN videos, Trent uses young black men as scenery objects, on more than one occassion. I know he does this in the "Closer" video, and I'm trying to think of the name of the other one. (I'm sure someone here can help me out, but it's the one with the big cage that reminds me of Thunderdome.) In "The Perfect Drug" he now turns to Asian women. (I guess at this point "he" refers to Mark Romanek.)

However, Gwen's stylish followers have to be the most bizarre shit. Is she still doing that?....or did someone finally go, "Psst! Ms. Stefani, some people may not consider human beings as an appropriate substitute for a cute hand-bag."

edit: I guess someone did say so, a bit loudly.

I knew I couldn't have been the only one that was freaked out by it.

This has also bothered me.

I have wondered what goes through the minds of "Love, Angel, Music and Baby" as they're prancing around Gwen in her videos and stuff.

I mean, it's one thing to like, say, the style of the Harajuku girls and emulate it. But another thing to "dress" yourself in an "actual" girl!

I emulated Cyndi Lauper in the 80's. But I didn't expect her to come to my school and dance around me at lunchtime.

Thanks for putting something that was only somewhat of a brain tickle for me into words.
