9/11 conspiracy debunking

Please submit any and all reasons why anyone would think there is a conspiracy behind 9/11 and I'd be happy to debunk it using quotes of Scientist or sources relevant to the doubting.

I know people with no access to any information about 9/11 argue they know what "really happened" on 9/11 but every single conspiracy person who has come out with a theory has been debunked. So will it ever end or will the questioning continue forever by people with no means to prove or disprove anything?

A common one:

The Doubters:

Scholars for 9/11 Truth.

WHO ARE THEY: They are a tiny minority of the 1 million part- and full-time faculty nationwide, and some have no university affiliation. Most aren't experts in relevant fields.

WHAT THEY SAY: "The World Trade Center was almost certainly brought down by controlled demolitions. The government not only permitted 9/11 to occur but may even have orchestrated these events to facilitate its political agenda."

"I'm smart enough to know ... that fire from airplanes can't melt steel." (coming from a proffessor who admits that science/chemistry is not his field)

DEBUNKING:

1- The National Institute of Standards and Technology filed 10,000 pages of reports that found fires caused by the crashing planes were more than sufficient to collapse the buildings.

2- Professor James Quintiere of the Department of Fire Protection Engineering at the University of Maryland noted that the collapse times of the Twin Towers were proportional to the thickness of the fireproofing. He states "The insulation used was too little, according to our calculations".

3- Roger Morse, an architect who investigated the WTC's fireproofing from the early 1990s to June 2001, said that the towers suffered from the same sorts of deficiencies as many other high-rise office buildings in the United States and Europe. He noted that fireproofing on long-span joists was often "extremely thin" (less than the 3/4 inch specified in the FEMA/ASCE report) and that some structural elements were never fireproofed in places because ductwork prevented ready access. Moreover, he observed that fireproofing on the columns had been coming off because it had been applied over the rust that had built up on the columns, and the rust was flaking from the steel.

don't people usually wait for an argument before providing a counter-argument? anything else is kind of... well... argumentative. =)

I came up with my own conspiracy theory, but not because I believe it, but only because mine makes more sense than most of the others out there even though it is so easily provable false.

My theory is Amtrack is all but non-existant and longs for the glory days of rail from days gone past. They get no business because everybody flies everywhere. So, they orchestrated the events of 9/11 to cause people to fear flying so Amtrack can come rolling in and save the travel industry through their train services. They're also behind the current war in Iraq in attempts to raise gas prices so high people won't drive anymore. Amtrack plans on building electric rail services in all major cities and hopes to obtain government grants to assist in building mag-lev bullet trains across the nation.

nah, i allow the possibility that things i can't conclusively disprove may be true... big words, marc, i know... ;)

no one ever suspects the butterfly, and no one would ever suspect amtrak of orchestrating the 9/11 attacks. =) so if no one's investigating them, who can prove they had nothing to do with it?

I have come to the conclusion that to protect myself and my own life that I must draw my own conclusions about EVERYTHING whether anyone likes it or not. Whether I can provide an arguement or not. Whether you deam it valid or not. Whether you accept it or not.

I cannot live in a society that believes that the govt. does not cover up everything to high hell and the media tells the truth. Get real. I take what is publicly known and use INTUITION to fill in the rest. However, you may refer to this as insanity, and I still don't care either way. I have to live in my own truth, whether or not you call it insane.

The raccoon’s disgusting, bloated carcass made a wheezing sound as I poked it with the stick. I watched as it floated across the brackish water and came to a rest between Rachel Corrie’s concrete thighs.

It'd been a long, emotional week full of heartache and sorrow at Evergreen State College, and now there was a dead raccoon floating in our 9/11 Reflection Pond. Students erected the tiny pool shortly after the “attacks” to honor those who lost their lives as a result of Bush’s pro-Israel policies. Little did they know that Bush would use it as roadkill receptacle. I suppose it was his twisted way of warning me that I was getting too close to the truth about what really happened on 9/11.

Everyone knows it was an inside job. But I've only recently come to understand how deeply inside it really is. Let's take a quick look at some of the facts:

1. The Pentagon. Charlie Sheen and other members of the Brat Pack have already concluded that the lack of any debris or human remains at the crash site proves it was not a commercial aircraft that hit the Pentagon. That means everyone aboard doomed American Airlines Flight 77 – the pilot, the crew, and the passengers - never died in that crash. So where are they? Who knows? Perhaps they’re all relaxing on a beach in Tahiti, enjoying the millions they were awarded in insurance money for their staged deaths.

2. United 93. It’s a known fact that cell phones will not work on commercial aircraft due to a magical forcefield that surrounds the entire hull. Yet the families of those who “died” on United Airlines Flight 93 claim to have received phone calls from their loved ones in the moments leading up to the crash. One must therefore conclude that either the families are lying about the calls, or the calls were never made from that plane. In either case, both the passengers and their families had to have been in on it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re all at the beach with the Flight 77 jokers, having a good laugh on all of us.

3. The World Trade Center. Anyone who has ever seen two skyscrapers hit by planes knows that they don’t pancake in on themselves in a controlled manner. For the towers to come down the way they did, hundreds of implosion engineers would need to spend days, maybe even weeks placing explosives in strategic locations on numerous floors. They’d have to drill holes in the concrete, saw through steel beams, and run a network of wires throughout the entire building. Such a massive project would be next to impossible to perform without being noticed by the thousands of people who worked in the towers every day. So the only explanation is that they were all in on it. Everyone who died in the towers, everyone who survived, every firefighter and every cop who rushed into the burning buildings to “rescue” people - they were all in on it. The passengers on the planes, the pilots, the crew, and the cab drivers that took them to airport were in on it. The people at the ticket counter were in on it. The guys who loaded the luggage onto the fictional planes were in on it. Those dudes who vacuum the carpet and put new barf bags in the seat pockets before you board, and even the food service people were all in on it. The air traffic controllers who tracked the hijacked aircraft were also in on it. Everyone on the ground who claimed to see the planes hit the building, and every TV cameraman who faked footage of the “attack” were in on it, too.

Obviously, the 9/11 conspiracy is of a grander scale than any of us could have possibly imagined. Thousands, if not millions of people had to be in cahoots with Bush in order to pull the whole thing off. In fact, odds are that you’re all in on it as well.

But I’m on to you.

The 9/11 Conspiracy Nuts

You trip over one fundamental idiocy of the 9/11 conspiracy nuts in the first paragraph of the book by one of their high priests, David Ray Griffin, The New Pearl Harbor. "In many respects," Griffin writes, "the strongest evidence provided by critics of the official account involves the events of 9/11 itself.... In light of standard procedures for dealing with hijacked airplanes...not one of these planes should have reached its target, let alone all three of them."

The operative word here is "should." One central characteristic of the nuts is that they have a devout, albeit preposterous, belief in American efficiency, and hence many of them start with the racist premise that "Arabs in caves" weren't capable of the mission. They believe that military systems work the way Pentagon press flacks and aerospace salesmen say they should work. They believe that at 8:14 am, when AA Flight 11 switched off its radio and transponder, an FAA flight controller should have called the National Military Command center and NORAD. They believe, citing reverently (this from high priest Griffin) "the US Air Force's own website," that an F-15 could have intercepted AA Flight 11 "by 8:24, and certainly no later than 8:30."

Um, that would be the United 93 flight pointed out in item 2 above. Item 1 covered the Pentagon plane; Item 2 was the plane you're referring to which crashed near Pittsburgh; and Item 3 covered the other two planes, one for each tower, so that all adds up to 4.

Um, that would be the United 93 flight pointed out in item 2 above. Item 1 covered the Pentagon plane; Item 2 was the plane you're referring to which crashed near Pittsburgh; and Item 3 covered the other two planes, one for each tower, so that all adds up to 4.

Each tower was an individual target, they just happened to be right next to eachother.

Oh. I get it now. The discrete success ratio of the attacking planes is important!
