BrassFusion Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Nobody wants to hear the worst I have heard <{POST_SNAPBACK}> PM me.
Onyx Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Nobody wants to hear the worst I have heard <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Same here. I was young and stupid. If anyone EVER treats me that way again it will be the last day they ever have me in their life.
Fierce Critter Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 How about the worst I've seen? A big, ugly brute bashing his girl's head on the tailgate of a pickup truck parked in front of the house next to my parents'. Unfortunately for the brute, Jon was also watching. And we had a baseball bat close at hand. While the girl ran to my house so I could call the cops, Jon tried to convince the brute to just leave. When he wouldn't and came at Jon, Jon stumbled backwards and fell (or he was pushed, we can't remember, heat of the moment). When Jon went to stand back up, the guy came at him again, and this time, Jon was ready. HeyBatterBatterBatterSWING-UH! Crack went the bat on the guy's head. "You hit me!" The guy said, incredulous as he stumbled backwards. And Jon promised to hit him again if he tried anything else. But luckily for the Brute, he just got in his car and took off. The cops came, took everybody's story, inspected the damage on Jon's knuckles & leather jacket (ask to see the war wounds on the elbow sometime), and took the bat with a smile and just told him not to do anything like that again lest he be arrested himself. The girl did press charges. And the guy had a rep at the police station. Happy ending all around. We also encountered a brute harassing his girl in a parking lot in Dearborn. Jon again got between the two, and with him playing physical barrier and me showing that I was quite ready to call the cops, he backed down and left while she waited for a friend to pick her up. Guys - do NOT fuck with women if Jon is in the area. Just don't do it. (P.S. We have a new bat. :devil )

bean Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Same here. I was young and stupid. If anyone EVER treats me that way again it will be the last day they ever have me in their life. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> what she said ^
jadnifer Posted August 19, 2006 Author Posted August 19, 2006 sometimes i really wonder what is going through the heads of these people as they are verbally or physically attacking someone else.
Head Wreck Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 its not done and your no longer a man if you do not know how to show proper respect to a woman.
Homicidalheathen Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 But you don't know the whole story. Maybe she has a drug problem, cheats...goes out all the time and doesn't work......you know? I would have put it differently but.....you just never know.
honeymustard02 Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Please tell me you are not saying it's ok to beat a woman if she has a drug problem or cheats. If you are that's just asinine. But you don't know the whole story. Maybe she has a drug problem, cheats...goes out all the time and doesn't work......you know? torn asunder Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Please tell me you are not saying it's ok to beat a woman if she has a drug problem or cheats. If you are that's just asinine. there's nothing in that first post that indicates that the guy was physically abusive. in this case, that could have been the issue - she might have been unfaithful, or into drugs, etc, and he was putting his foot down out of frustrated care and love... (ok, most likely he was an asshole, but still...)
torn asunder Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 its not done and your no longer a man if you do not know how to show proper respect to a woman. so true... and as headwreck and i both know, chivalry is alive and well, at least in some places, right, hw!?
Head Wreck Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 chivalry was the code of being a bastard., for instance a man cant do anything to a woman alone, but if she is with male company and you challanged, fought and killed him you can do whatever you want with her. i just call my stance it being a man.

Brenda Starrr Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Same here. I was young and stupid. If anyone EVER treats me that way again it will be the last day they ever have me in their life. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Amen, sister. If Wayne or my friends don't get them, I will.

All of its bad though. Just wish it would stop.
littlepinkkitty Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 i recently got a message on my my space from some guy saying that he hopes all jews are wiped off the face of the earth. I'm jewish. I hate racism it make s me very uneasy to listen to anybody's racial comments i hate it. i went and looked at his page and he was saying more bad stuff about jews.... how could people be so stupid and hateful.

They dont understand that what they say is hurtful to who they say it to. Just think of what he would say if you were to say something like that to him. Most people that say things like that to people dont stop to think about how it would make them feel if someone said it to them. I know that it makes you mad, but sometimes it something that just needs to be chalked up to ignorance is all.
Homicidalheathen Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Some people put up with verbal abuse because it is easier to take than physical abuse and don't have a choice at the moment.
Brenda Starrr Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Frankly, they both hurt equally as much. It's easier to fight back with words than with fists.
pomba gira Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 chivalry was the code of being a bastard., for instance a man cant do anything to a woman alone, but if she is with male company and you challanged, fought and killed him you can do whatever you want with her. i just call my stance it being a man. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Also, the "code of chivalry" only applied to women who were the man's social equals or superiors. Peasant women were fair game for whatever treatment those valiant, chivalrous warriors cared to dish out. "Chivalry" is one of those words that makes my stomach knot up whenever I hear it since the whole idea is based on social inequity & oppression. & unfortunately, "I want your fukking ass home" is actually pretty mild compared to a lot that I've heard... some of it from my middle school students. There are a lot of very unhappy people out there who haven't learned any other way of dealing w/their misery besides spreading it around as much as possible. There are also families where everyone speaks to each other like that constantly & no one thinks anything of it... they aren't necessarily even speaking in anger, it's just their habitual mode of expression. I would say the "worst" I've heard has nothing to do with swear words or scatologisms... it's more a matter of hearing someone being just straight-out cruel to another by targeting their deepest personal fears and weaknesses... playing really sick head games. That's the kind of thing that really makes me cringe. That and the deeply hurtful things people say to their children out of pure ignorance rather than malice- stuff like "you're gonna turn out just like your father" or "I wish you would at least try to do something right for once". Or my favorite, "None of my other children give me half as much trouble as this one" (said in the child's presence).
torn asunder Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 a bit off topic, but would someone care to enlighten me on how it is that "chivalry" came to be known as a man being respectful towards women, e.g opening doors, etc... ?? i'm totally lost on that. :blink
