I'd almost bet money, however, on it having something to do with the Romantics filtering out the social inequities inherent in the chivalric code, and leaving only the defense of a woman's honor, etc. I'm sure running it through the rinse cycle of Victorian England didn't help much either, women on pedestals, etc.

Steven Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Frankly, they both hurt equally as much. It's easier to fight back with words than with fists. the words last longer. blood and bruises go away.
