dj sinisterfreeq Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 i have my own eqp. but no amp willing to send a demo to anone who asks ---------------dj sinister
Troy Spiral (13) Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 might want to post a bit more details than that. Where your located, what sort of DJing your looking to do, what kind of EQ you have etc.
Scary Guy Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 When talking about equipment Troy use the abreveation equip and not eq as that stand for equalizer. Fresh DJ's should contact me about Wednesdays at Mephisto's. I'm guessing you're goth/industrial/ebm. Yeah list your equipment too (including model numbers, I'm always currious) I currently have a Numark EM-460, Stanton S-550, and a B-52 speaker system with built in amp. Only thing I don't like is the Stanton, and the Numark has problems but I'm working on that. You do any vinyl?
Chris Rohn Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 it would be to your benefit to make copies of your mix and pass them out to people at venues where you would be interested in dj'ing. your internet pleas will be of little help to you if you never leave your computer.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 After i posted that i thought "hrmm, probably should edit that "EQ" to "Equipment" before some wise-ass says something like "why would you only want to know what kind of EQ he has??" : Sinister you might also want to make at least a simple website with contact info / playlists / simple bio / ways to request mix tapes , etc also if your "brand new" develop a bit of a thick skin asap. The slings and arrows start coming fairly soon in terms of critical comments from just about every angle, including other DJs once you start working. I havnt "worked" in a several years now due to various reasons (started in the late 80s) but i've seen it 100 times.... Usually most either develop "the DJ ego" fairly quickly, or quit out of frustration with the irritations/rude people. Hopefully you can hook up with a friendly-mentor type, as often there can be a bit of a brick wall - fortress type mentality from established DJs toward new guys. Also what are you wanting to focus on? Radio, Club, Mobile DJ ? Then there's the age old DJ-as-Musician conversation (some would say "argument") ;D.
