sinmantyx Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 looks like some inventor needs to get a life worse than me <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't knock it! (that was a pun) :woot: No, seriously...I was an acoustics student...that is totally cool. And don't knock cowbell! If you only knew how complicated it was to do physical modeling of bells!! These people kick ass. ...and I'm a total geek...I know that.
Troy Spiral (13) Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 seems like a fairly legit thing to spend time doing. "cowbells" have a long history of being used in various professional sound situtaions. Makes sense that they would be translated to the digital realm. Im hard pressed to buy the idea that these are the "first ever". If they are, it must be via some sort of verbal trickery in the way they describe the product. This is the first DSP unit EVER to model cowbells? :ermm:

I am not kidding about how difficult this is...finite element analysis techniques are my friend!! Percussion in generally is very difficult, and usually is sampled and not modeled...except for the odd kettle drum sound.
