so me and the doc rented this. after seeing a number of previews we finally found it at the rental shop. it's a little slow to start but the visuals once it picks up are wonderful. i am a major neil gaiman fan though. i highly recomend it if for no other reason for the visuals.

it was pretty damned strange and trippy i must admit. but so nicely done visually.

I saw it in the theater (in fact there was a post on it about a year ago). I don't think it would be same NOT on the big screen.

that would have been so cool. the effects were sweet! we have a pretty decent sized tv but i know that it by far didnt' give the movie justice. i'm so jealous.

Good stuff. Only saw it recently on DVD unfortunately. Since the comming of the car accident and netflix i've not been out to the theater as much as i used to. I did hobble my ass out for the big screen re-release of Alien with an almost religous furvor. (although strangely my familairity with films has increased by a factor of about 100)

Im a gaiman fan from the way way way back. In recent years i havent kept up with his stuff as much as i used to.

I remember back in the day i ran all over town trying to find the one-shot "Comic Relief" charity book he along with a whos-who of british talent. Theres a 2 page teenange muntant ninja turtle story in there done by him if you can belive that lol.

I think i fell off the Gaiman bus somewhere around the time American Gods came out (which was great, i just started to shift toward nonfiction around then)

If anyone reading this has not had the pleasure of reading the whole Sandman series i suggest you do so with the same sort of desire you would for something that is >reallycollected editions

I've meet him a hand full of times myself and yes he is a very kewl guy.I have all my first sun sandman collection signed and I have my stardust first run "doodled" in. He definitly one of the better fantasy writters. As fir Mirrormask, I thought it was visually stunning and more then a simple fairy tale gone awry. It was more like a cerbral mind fuck but that just IMO. Either way it was refreshing break from all the crap I've spent cash on lately.

he's actually a really cool guy. i met him at a convention years and years ago. and all his stuff just rocks in my book.

He and the guy that draws faust were standing around bullshitting in the hallway of a con and i stopped and randomly said hi and shook both their hands.

I remember him saying how McFairlane called him up and said "Neil they are sticking it to me because i cant write... " and he said "And???" lol (which turned into his one-shot spider man story) When i asked him "are you going to leave comics?".

Not that i think its a big deal particularly. Entertainers are entertainers. I have more respect for my dad or my friend paul (or other random person that i think of as a hardworking good person) than i do any media/artist person that happens to put out interesting work. They get plenty of (deserved) credit but far more than they should i think. It almost seems sick to me the worship that entertianment figures get in modern times.

Having said that i have massive collections of comics/books/dvds (my audio CD collection got the axe several years ago in a car accident) I just try not to give some sort of mythical importance to entertainment figures. Its something i've sort of been trying to breed out of myself in the last 5-10 years.

i used to hold such people high on the list of evolution until i worked at noir leather and st.andrew's hall. then they just kind of became like everyone else only a little more talented. i do still highly admire many of myold idols but look at them as just people now rather than great icons to worship.
