Dubh Aingeal Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Garbage cans all over England are under surveillance tonight. And not by sleepy, fallible humans. This article in Live Science claims that at least 500,000 'wheelie bins' are now using RFID technology. Though that doesn't sound very dire, the article points out the ease with which your consumer spending habits could be tracked. Although this is frankly a story that is difficult to take seriously, please note the following. You should remember that many of the articles you buy (and sooner or later throw away) are now also equipped with passive RFID tags that detail the item's brand name and product name. If it's possible to scan the tag on the trash can with an ID, it's possible to use similar equipment to quickly scan your can to uncover your purchasing habits.
Scary Guy Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 So just throw your trash away in your neighbors can, what's so hard about that?
Head Wreck Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 here in wales were still using plain old trash cans
Scary Guy Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Get the old metal ones, and line them with Lead

Homicidalheathen Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I honestly could care a less if the goverment knows how many bags of cheese its I ate this week. Or that I use charmin on my fucking arse. Now, the dildo box......hm.......do I care if they know or do I go use dumpsters illegally? hm....... I don't fucking care if they know. I dont use heavy drugs or molest kids or animals.....so I have nothing to hide at all.
Scary Guy Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 It's not wether or not you have something to hide. It has to do with the basic right to privacy issue. Once agian "People who give up freedom for security deserve neither freedom nor security" - Ben Franklin
Homicidalheathen Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I figure they really want to....since I buy most things with a credit card, can already find this stuff out somehow. And, who can or wants to pay attention to everyones garbage? Do you know how many people that is? I am thinking someone is pulling your leg.......just wants to use it for marketing purposes.....or all ready has their eye on you.
Head Wreck Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 whats more worrying is the idea to put a camera in every room in the house so "they can accurastly calculate property tax". also theres tyhe legeslative reform bill i'll be celebrating om may 31st 2007 when that grinning cunt leaves number 10
