Leathersmiths: Scrap leather?

I've got a biker jacket with a back seam. It's either sell it and find a new one without a seam or get creative.

I'm thinking about applying a large leather panel to the back that I can customize and even change-out if I want. I would apply it with pronged or screw studs, so I could unbend or unscrew them to change out the panels if I want.

Yes, this would put holes in the back of the jacket. But it's something I'm willing to do to customize and hold on to what otherwise is THE perfect jacket for me.

Any leathersmiths out there able to price a piece of typical black leather for me? Measurements would be appx. 26" x 22".

If you don't have scraps for sale, suggestions on good websites would be appreciated.
