I'm having an issue with the piercing thing.

i so dont know what it is or why it is happening

but its like lately when i go to do the piercings,

i guess i freeze. i pierced a belly button and her

body reacted funny to the piercing, it like, bruised

all up n stuff... it wasnt from me, and it freaked me

out it was like a brick wall or a writers block i guess.

i cant get past it it bugs me and is like taunting me.

my first two were perfect and maybe my ego got in

the way or something i wasnt sure. but today i pierced

a conch for the first time mind you a history lesson::::

my boss threw me into piercing with me just having knowladge

not expierence which is how it happens but i didnt get to

practice on anything fake first, every person is differnt mind you.

i started just prepping the clients and such, but then he stopped me

so i dont have even a feel on some. well this one today was one of them.

the conch:

i got the forcepts on correctly placed my dot and was all ready and

my boss told me that if i went slanted at all the ring wouldnt fit. so it

started making me nervous. well i got the needle through in one shot

and got the ring in, o yea... i have a hard time bending the rings by hand

so yea... i hate hardened jewelery. anyways, i got the ring in and had to

bend it back, i choked and asked my boss to do it he wouldnt which made

me frustrated n such then i got it bent back and couldnt get the ball on at all

the closers wouldnt close and the openers were too big for my hand. argh!

so i freaked set my stuff down and sat in the bathroom all upset.

i know i should not have gotten all flustered. But i did and its like everyone is telling

me what i have to do and its like i know what i have to do but i cant seem to get

the procedure right everytime like the cleaning, and then i get nervous bc i mesed

the easy shit up.

any thoughts to send my way please do. lol. :hope:

Your boss wouldn't make you do the piercings if he didn't trust you to do a good job. Screwing up and freaking out is part of learning anything new, and the more you practice, the less you'll worry about it =)

thats a good point.. thank you :peanutbutterjellytime

lol, and I'm still thinking about letting you do me, btw, after I get paid for the next few weeks of teaching...

Learning can be a scary experience. Dont let it get to you too much. I am sure that you will be just fine. I will still let you pierce me. Just remember though, everyone started somewhere, even your boss. Like BrassFusion said, he wouldnt let you do it if he didnt trust you to do it right.

The part about the bruising...if that happens occasionally...dont take it personally...it wasnt something that you did wrong. Its just one of those things.

Just remember, practice makes perfect.

With the pain, the needles, and the alive person sitting next to you watching every move, perfectly capable of slapping you out of reflex, and them being a guinea pig... yeah...I'd be a little nervous as a piercer....But, it is s new thing to you!

You'll master it soon enough!

(If I was not afraid of mutilating my vessel....I'd let you do me!):laugh:

the bruising was probably because of the forceps. if you used them i wouldnt worry that happens with even the most experienced piercers. and i agree with brass, if your boss really thought you were gonna fuck up that bad he probably wouldnt let you do it

I give you kudos for having the guts to do this to people in the first place.

I agree that our boss must have confidence in you if they gave you the job. However, perhaps asking your boss to send you to some class to further your experience or even just have some sort of lunchtime or after-hours pow wow about some of your concerns.

Since I assume your boss is experienced, he/she should be able to give you more tips to alleviate your concerns and help you in the future. I am assuming Michigan does not have a law that requires certification of piercers as RI amd MA do. Whatever happens, good luck with it.
