Msterbeau Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I think you can be either way. Some people choose to totally fabricate personalities.. others are more of themselves then they are in real life. The net allows you to go either way.
DarkVampire Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 So many personalities in one mind. It gets confusing at times.
Gothmama25 Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I can't answer this for myself. I guess the people I've talked to online and then met could answer this for me.
Vater Araignee Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I'm more reserved and less friendly on line. All hand up for those that think I'm friendly? Ok now put your hands down if you have met me in person. No hands in the air? LOVELY!!! :devil
Hex Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I yam what I yam an' that's all that I yam...so sayeth Popeye. I agree. I can be more "shy" offline, but that's because I KNOW I'm tactless, loud, and often intimidating in my outspoken nature. I don't mean to be, but it happens. I scare people and that's a shame, but I'm not about to don a mask to make the world feel better, so tough noogies! As long as no-one takes it personally or takes me too seriously, it's all good though. Does that make any sense, cause I think I just confused myself hehe. :doh
sass_in_the_pants Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Interesting topic... I am definitely less "me" online than in real life. In real life, like Brass said, you've got context to help you out, and since I know I don't have that online, sometimes I just keep my mouth shut. And, I tend to take what I type mroe seriously than what I say. I mean, if I say dumb shit while we're both drunk, by the next morning it will all be just a foggy memory. But if i TYPE it, on a message board, well, there it is, for anyone to read once they sober up. And, I am definitely more closed online. I just don't like to put alot of personal information on the net. It freaks me out a little bit. Okay, a lot.
Anathema Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 both myself and doc mojo are exactly like we are online. we're actually a bit more reserved online than we are face to face.
LuluVox Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I'd say my online self is more or less a good representation of my personality away from the keyboard. I'm quiet until something moves me to speak, I'm sarcastic, and mostly all I talk about is music...yeah, that's pretty much the case on or off the computer. I guess maybe I'm more talkative in real life, but not as a rule. I kind of have to get my bearings with a situation/person before I'll really start talking (or be drunk). And sometimes I'm just not in the talking mood. Much like my on again/off again posting habits.
