If There Was No Media At All,except General Issues

:devil

Today the media I think is usually nothing but negative crap and they really don't focus on the

good things that certain people have done.IMO.

I try not to watch the news, unless I need to follow up on which roads will be closed,

due to roadwork.and just general information.

The media has been known for a long time for

over sensationalizing things out of proportion,(overhyping that is)

"News flash, shooting in Southwest Detroit"thats not new it happens all the time

"Breaking News"Someone driving got stuck in a ditch" big deal,he's not hurt and lived.

This is just how I feel about the media today.more annoying than newsIMO.

wtf are general issues?

The title of your post is a bit confusing. But your point is made clear in the body of the post. =)

I've long thought it was frustrating that "news" is usually a reporting of "things that seem odd / violent / disturbing / fun" rather than actually trying to educate people.

Most newsmedia unfortunately, is entertianment first. Thus you dont get as much reporting of actual meaningful trends and such as most of us would think is one of the key reasons for "news" to exist.

If the media actually reported on major issues concerning people and not just little small town crap, yeah I think that would be great. From an actual neutral standpoint, even better.

Hey, he just asked which would be better, not which would be more realistic.

no media imo would be good for people. its to negative. how often do you turn on the news to hear something thats really positive and uplifting. you cant tell me that nothing like that ever occurs, because i see it every day. i realize its the whole cant look away from a car crash idea but maybe thats because theyve been shoving the negative down our throats so long that we dont know how to apreciate the positive in the same sort of way

That's a very old saying in the news business.

I think the question should be phrased different, now that I think about it some more.

Media includes film, music, the printed word, art, and last but not least, television.

I think the question really should be...should there be news.

The answer: OF FUCKING COURSE THERE SHOULD BE NEWS!!!

Are you that apathetic that you don't want to know about what's going on in the world?

I'm still not sure that's what he meant. "General Issues" could mean "news." Or cooking shows. at any rate he'll probably be around to clarify in a couple hours.

There's a lot more that happens than that, and some would argue that it's your responsibility to know. Democracy would fail without the media.

That's what the morning news is for "good morning, life is good, this happened while you were asleep and oh here are some great reasons why you should go out and go to your meaningless job to make money to buy our sponsors products and services".

Ignorance is bliss?

poppycock

I turn on the news, I want to see what criminals are at large, the weather, and traffic information for my area. Oh yeah and if we're being invaded I'd like to know that as well. Other than that it's all extra info and knowledge is power. Especially financial information.

i realize theres more than that, but i can find the same exact thing from a newspaper or the internet and i dont have to listen to hours of people talking about who killed who, or guess whos a rapist!, i can skim through it and if theres actually something worth reading i can choose to. i cant think of one thing in the past month (for example) that ive found on the news that i felt i really needed to know, to better myself or anyone around me.
