Here's to a man who helped make the crow's nest hair-do a must-have, and who never bowed to the "goth" label, but doesn't openly shun it (or much of anything now that he's grown out of his 'vitriol-spewing, boot-to-head-kick-giving, making interviewers cry [for real]' phase).

So, uh, let's talk about Nick Cave...Boys Next Door/Birthday Party/Bad Seeds-wise, or any other way.

nick cave is so wonderfully gloomy. it's just something about him i don't know what (well, minus the fact that he had blixa bargeld as one of the bad seeds). who did he do the remake of the song "wonderful life" (i think it's that or wonderful world) with? i had the single years and years ago but it went missing long ago and i've been dying to download it but don't know who he did it with.

It is "What a Wonderful World," with Shane MacGowan from the Pogues. "Wonderful Life is a song from...Nocturama, I think. :)

That is one of my favorite pictures of him! There are so many amazing pictures of him, though...like...

I never realized it was even question, what genre Nick Cave's music belongs to. He's more like a postmodern shaman or something.Which I suppose...kind of makes him a folk singer?

Anyway, Into My Arms.

He'd probably like that description! You know he secretly just wants to be Leonard Cohen (who turned 72 yesterday, I might add).

I love the whole Boatman's Call album. I've even made my peace with "Green Eyes."

I had no idea we were in such an impotant part of the calander.

Songs From A Room is an album that I often like to think of as the best album ever...and I remember when I bought it, I found it on vinyl, so it was just like four dollars or something...and the more I've listened to it, it's become better and better.

I love Nick Cave. He is like a gothic mixture of Johnny Cash and Lenerd Cohane, too me.

Haha, you know what? Nick's actually 49 today, not 47, I totally mixed him up with Robert Smiths's year of birth.

Yeah, I'm losing my touch in my old age.

You spelled Lenerd Cohane wrong for one thing. "Le Nerd"

Actually I spell it "Legod Cohane"

I think that's the way it's spelled in Belarus. Speaking of Belarusian, it's a beautiful day for goulash...and then afterwards a trip to the gulag.
