Wounds Within Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Making their first trip to the playoffs in 19 years, the Tigers were falling short in the remaining regular season games all weekend long to the Kansas City Royals (in which may I add are the 2nd to the worst team in all of baseball). If the Detroit Tigers are going to extend their surprising season by making a run in the playoffs, they now have to get past the New York Yankees in the first round of the playoffs, A team who the Tigers have struggled against all season. After wasting several chances to wrap up an AL Central title, the Tigers ended up with a wild-card spot today (Sunday) and now must open the postseason Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium against a powerful New York lineup. With the Tiger's loss and Minnesota's 5-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox gave the Twins their fourth AL Central championship in five years. I still have high hopes though and who knows they very well may do very well in the playoffs. We shall see.

phee Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 you shut your mouth boy They really fucked themselves the last 3 games
BrassFusion Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 They really fucked themselves the last 3 games why'd I have to miss that!
Wounds Within Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 They are about to lose their ass'. Well I wouldn't go that far. The Yankees regular season record is only 2 games better then the Tigers record so hopefully Detroit will at least put up a fight........hopefully. Then again the first found playoffs are a best of 5 game series so that might not be enough time for the Tigers to pull through especially with the first 2 games being played at Yankee Stadium. But who knows, if the Pistons can go against all odds and beat the Lakers in the Finals then the Tigers could do the same against the Yankees right? Hummm maybe, but I just don't know.
Marblez Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 6-0 yesterday... HA!!! I second that "HA!" Go ahead and keep counting them out. Even the 800 AM "The Fan" sports commentators were saying there was no way, that Detroit wasn't even in the same ballpark as great teams such as the Yankees. So interesting that the current series thus far is 2-1 Tigers vs (who?) the almighty New York Yankees.
Wounds Within Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 Tigers have overpowered the Yankees (3 games to 1) and have won their first playoff series in 21 years. Detroit has stunned the world and New York now find themselves shaking their heads in disbelief. It is already being said the Yankees management are going to do some major changes to their roster in the post season. I found this quite funny as it reminds me much of how the LA Lakers pretty much fell apart in the post season right after the Pistons defeated them in The Finals and they have never been the same since. The Tigers now find themselves going up against the Oakland Athletics in the 7 game AL Championship Series.

Troy Spiral (13) Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I've tried really hard to get into professional sports. Just cant seem to do it. My mind starts wandering and i zone out. Football and Tennis seem to be slightly easier for me to concentrate on than the other "major" sports but i still cant keep my attention on them. Which is a bit bizzare since i can listen to 3 hour long semiars without losing focus. One of my ex girlfriends was really into hockey and i tried HARD to learn how to like it. Oddly though i can concentrate on the "sports talk" stuff were they BS about what happend for hours on end. My dad is all excited about this tigers thing and i'd LIKE to be able to share in it with him, and im trying... again... but failing.
