maeve Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Just saying hello and introducing myself as I’m new to the group. I’m from northern IN, been here most of my life (oh the thrills, let me tell you, yeah). I’m a full time student working on my degree in English; this is my last year and then I’ll have my BA. I plan to do graduate studies but it will be a couple of years before that happens due to some of the children in my life needing to graduate themselves before being uprooted and hauled off to god knows where. Speaking of children, we have nine, ages 6-21. Two are also in college, 1 of which will also be graduating this year. I’m usually asked if I birthed all nine so, just to clear this up now, the answer is no. I only birthed 2, my other half was the busier character, but we do have custody of all but 2 and those 2 are usually around anyway which makes for a very full house. My honey and I have been together for almost 6 years now, one of these days we plan to be legally married. The insurance issue is creating a push for that direction and may cause it to happen sooner than later. Not that we don’t passionately adore one another, it’s just that a piece of paper shouldn’t be the deciding factor on how a person is treated in society, unfortunately though that seems to be the case. No benefits in this country for people who aren’t right in “the eyes of god” and all that crap, you know? Hmm, let’s see what else? I work part time as a research assistant. I love to garden, and I’m into RPGs, and I’m getting better at sewing, but it has been a struggle. I tend to read a lot (English Major), but I would be doing that even if I wasn’t. My primary area of interest is the long 19th century, in other words the Gothic and Romantic literature followed by the Victorian authors. Did I mention that I love cats? We have 3 of them, Mantra, Lilith, and Tiger. Really I’m an animal lover in general. Honey tells me that I love animals more than people, he’s probably right. He also mentioned to me that Dr. Doolittle went insane, can anyone corroborate this? I think I’ve said close to everything except that life here, scene wise, is pitiful. There is absolutely nothing that goes on around here. Once in while we are able to get a group of friends together to go out and about for dinner or something but that’s about it; it does make quite an impact though when 10-20 people attired in Goth garb walk into one of these stuffy restaurants together. The only other hope for us is to take a road trip to a larger city and hit a couple of the clubs there, but that usually takes money and time and trying to coordinate both of those things with everyone can be a challenge and so, doesn’t happen all that often. Wow, have I rambled on. I guess I’ll put an end to this now and just say, thanks for having me aboard. Maeve

maeve Posted October 6, 2006 Author Posted October 6, 2006 Welcome!!! Yay!!! Another one with a bunch of kids! Phee and I have 5 combined (four are mine, one is his). You beat us. Glad to meet you. By the way, if you'd like more kids we could probably arrange something for the right price , we do have enough I'm sure. We've told them all on occasion that we may have to sell them off to medical experiments. Kidding of course...we'd never tell them that, it might tip them off Seriously though, it'll be nice to have someone to exchange stories with. Thanks for the welcome.

maeve Posted October 6, 2006 Author Posted October 6, 2006 Welcome. I have kiddies too. :-) Thanks again for the welcomes. It slowly occured to me that I'm posting way too many individual messages. Sorry, sometimes it takes my brain a a little while to catch up with the rest of me. So, I'll just combine my hellos here if that's ok? I appreciate all the greetings and hope that I can get to know you all better. Perhaps soon we'll be able to make a road trip up that way and say hello in person. Until then I guess I'll remain here guarding the boarders...seriously....and maybe we'll find froyn's pants in the process...seriously.
