Long story short, Mama has to go. SOON. Time is long past to realize she will not acclimate to a home with other cats.

And with her peeing problem, it's been impossible for me to find anyone willing to give her the time see if she'd be o.k. as the only pet in a home.

A breeder who has been very kind to me and giving me lots of advice has warned me that short of putting her out on the streets and hoping she'll be o.k. as an outdoor cat, we may have to put her down.

Mama deserves better. So I'm going to see if I can find someone who lives on a nice piece of country property who would give her a barn home.

She'll still need to be given food, but more than likely, she'll be a hell of a mouser.

If you know of ANYONE who you or I could contact to see if they'd be willing to do this, please let me know. We're willing to travel for the chance of giving her a nice home. And we'll provide the first BIG bag of catfood, too.

Thanks.

I have an aunt that is basicly "the cat lady" but she already has way to many cats. Most of them are outside cats... im not sure if that would work though. They are outside like 99.9% of the time, even in the winter they live in a shed.

But... im guessing that wont work, even though they have a lot of "space" they still do need to be social. *thinks*

You may not have to kick your cat on the streets or put her down. I've had the same problem when we had to introduce 2 new girl cats to a group of 3 girl cats (all related grandma, mom, and daughter) and the 3 had a literal shit fit with this. We had to divide the house in 2, and the 3 were way obsessed with attacking these other two cats, to include CONSTANT piss spray on the door seperating the 2 groups. A trick we found is this product called APPLE CIDER VINIGER. It's harmless to the creatures, but when you sneak it on their food, it changes the oder of their urin and confuses them and ultimately gets them to stop spraying. Some can be more stubborn about it than others and can take a longer time, but not too long of a time. I say try including that in her diet and give it about 2 weeks and see what happens. If she still has a problem sharing her space and actually attacks other cats, then it gets bad. You might have to install a door to a room and have the one with the problem permanently seperated from the rest.

Hm. The barn I ride at already has a cat overflow problem, but I can ask friends who have other barn-connections to check if any of those need an extra kitty.

My grandpa owns a farm and people dump cats there all the time...I'm sure he wouldnt care much...can you drop it off though? He lives on the border of Fowlerville and Howell...bout 5-10 minutes from me...either pm me on here, yahoo (dbk_aka_deadburgerking) or aim (deadburgerking54) and we can discuss it...

Troy - that's nice of you, but I think it's best not to put her in with a group of already established cats. Not fair to either of them.

Lulu - I'd appreciate that. :) I lost all my "country connections" when we moved back from NC.

DBK - I'd rather not just "dump her off", as she'll probably still need to be fed commercial catfood for a while, until she learns the ropes of being a fully outdoor cat. I and the person I got her from both think she was feral at one time, but it may take some time for her to figure out mousing and other ways of getting her own food. Thank you for the tip, however. Worst case scenerio, I'll keep it in mind.

Vampyro - Even if we could get Mama to stop the "territorial pissing", I'm afraid that the majority of my other cats just plain hate her. I caught my Grover - ordinarily a huge ball of sweetness - attacking the living shit out of her the other day, it really shocked me. Poor Mama, despite about 4 destroyed recliners, 2 destroyed sofas and one or two computer chairs, I really only sympathize with her.

And we're living in a loft apartment with a totally open floorplan. There is no possibility of installing doors or keeping her separated from the rest.

I may have a glimmer of hope. I contacted my sister, who lives in Hillsdale county. She and her husband are friends with some of the local Amish families. She's going to go see them next weekend and see if they or anyone they know are willing to give her a barn home. I think that would be sweet. I really hope that comes through.
