Fierce Critter Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Picked up what is basically a clogging skirt, red in many layers of ruffled/gathered tulle/net. But despite all the layers, it's rather easy to see through to my nether regions. I'd like to wear it with my corset sometime. I've been searching thrift stores for something to add to it to add a bit of discretion, but sofar, no luck. And my imagination needs broadening. Any suggestions?
Rayne Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 When I did the whole cheerleading thing back in elementary school, we wore "tilly's" (might be spelled with a y or an ie, not sure) under our skirts (which were quite short and liked to fly up a lot). But they weren't bothersome and covered what we needed to be covered. Any athletic uniform store - or specifically cheerleading supply (try the internet) should have them. I have heard that Tennis players wear them too under their skirts. Here's a site that has a few different styles in TONS of colours: http://www.cheerleading.com/items.php?cat=1⊂=4
Fierce Critter Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 Interesting. I've seen people wear boy-shorts or bicycle pants, which are similar. But I'm going for something that's a bit less "underwear-looking" and will not conform to my belly. A couple things I've looked at are kindof like slips, but sofar I haven't found one that's not straight, which looks dumb with the pouffyness of the skirt.
honeymustard02 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 What about getting some matching fabric and whip stitching it in??
sass_in_the_pants Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I was going to suggest what honeymustard said. Could you just use mroe matching tulle underneath, perhaps stiffer so that the poofy outer skirt keeps its shape? Joann's always has all of the colors, and the 40% off coupons.
Fierce Critter Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 I actually have black & red ruffled rhumba panties that I wear with stuff like that that might show my derriere when bending over. But I prefer to mask my stomach. Honey/Sass, I think that's the best idea yet. I had thought about adding a more opaque layer, but honestly didn't want to make a big production out of it (read: I dont' feel like setting up my sewing machine). Whip stitching something in place underneath would work great. Thanks!
Head Wreck Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 i would have thought that skirt was impractical. wouldnt it catch all the sawdist while carving the cloggs
CandyQuackenbush Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I would say sew in a liner or a pair of shorts, but shorten them to you liking. I know you could go to Noir and see if they have biker shorts.
Nienna Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I wear boy shorts under my see through tutus. I used to do the thong thing, but I'm not as young as I used to be!
honeymustard02 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I figured whip stitching would be fast and mess free. But not only that, it won't really ruin your skirt if you find something else to wear underneat, and isn't hard to remove.

This way, it'll be easy to change colours, too - like purple, black, or just more red. :D
pomba gira Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Pettipants? The ruffly kind like squaredancers wear? They come in different lengths and are usually cut fairly high-waisted.
Gauge Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Ruffled rhumba panties. haha i get to wear those to work bc our outfits are so short >.<
