A friend served it at a party once. Yes it is an aquired taste but wasn't that bad. Was told it tastes best when served warm, temp about 78 degrees farenheit. And yes, you can get blasted off of it. I own 2 sake sets and wouldn't mind using them again.

I miss my sake set. Invite me over next time you whip yours out :wink

Things to remember about sake:

As Zhukov said, quality really does matter

Most kinds are meant to be drunk warm (which also gives the etoh more of a kick)

It isn't meant to be sucked down like most western drinks, hence the refined little cups. Like good wine, the real flavor can only be appreciated if it's drunk the right way. That may sound snobbish but it really is true.

FC, I'm not good at describing tastes, but as etoh beverages go sake is kind of sweetish, but different from most sweet wines. Hm, this description seems to get more useless by the word so I'll give up now.

AFA natto- I think it's one of those foods you can only enjoy if you get used to the taste before you're weaned... like that Vietnamese nuoc mam stuff.

I'm thinking I'm going to be moving to AZ, soon! Can't wait! I friggin' love it here! The heat doesn't bother me at all and the best part? NO SNOW!!! (S.N.O.W. - Shit  No One Wants)   Been staying in Bullhead City where the kids and grandkids live. Next, we're going to the wife's cousin's which is a ways North of Kingman, in the middle of nowhere, where we actually plan to move.   I really like Bullhead. It's a nice little town. Not overcrowded like Colorado Springs has become, at all. Very light traffic, reasonable prices on everything, low taxes, etc. The river offers a lot to do, with a lot of beaches and campgrounds all around it.   But yeah even though we've been over 110º-115º F just about every day,  I can handle it!  What I can't handle anymore, is snow and being cold. Just tired of it. Give me the desert over a blizzard any day!

Nope, we wasn't doing anything. I didn't want to go by myself.  I ended up doing karaoke here. It would of been a perfect day to go, though.
