Homicidalheathen Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 So I waited like 2 yrs to try it......and its nasty......Anyone?
Brenda Starrr Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Try a plum-flavored one. Regular sake is pretty nasty.
CandyQuackenbush Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 So I waited like 2 yrs to try it......and its nasty......Anyone? Yeah, it taste and smells like nail polish remover. but when you drunk already, it doesnt really matter.
Shade Everdark Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Frankly, sake is like sushi--I really enjoy it, once in a while, but it gets old quickly, if I overdo it. If you REALLY want difficult Japanese foods, try mochi or natto.
ZhukovCodeslinger Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 sake comes in many different quality levels.... like the difference between Dom and "cityclub rot gut new years 6oz champaigne bottles" it is very easy to get boons' farm quality sake... and not know you wasted your money until you try it... also, mixing up wether your sake is supposed to be hot or cold can also affect the taste and if you like it or not.
Fierce Critter Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Speaking as someone who generally doesn't like the taste of liquor anyway, what would sake best be compared to (minus the aforementioned nail polish remover)? I've always been curious about it.
Steven Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 ohhhh Sake very good....must drink it warm, thats the way......
Head Wreck Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 its liquid sandpaper and angle grinders FC. bad horrible awful stuff
Head Wreck Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 indeed. theres far better stuff. sake is like drinking rubbing alcohol. i like my bevarages with flavour i'm afraid, and with as little alcohol burn as possible
Paper Hearts Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Sake is a rice wine, which may be of any of several flavors depending on what tradition has produced it, from which part of Japan. Drinking sake is a refined tradition and it's effects can be quite perfect. Those who are loutish never appreciate beauty, where those with grace have fruition.

Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Sake and Guiness are the only two drinks I know of that if you don't like them, the people that do look down on you. It’s like they think your beverage choice has real bearing on who you are as a person. It’s fermented rice… someone stopped halfway to making vodka and called it good. Ok, I suppose not being able to figure out how to distill it makes someone special.

I'd venture to say it's also something that is appreciated more by those who also enjoy some of the small rituals surrounding it.
Nienna Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Heh.. ask me for my story on how sake almost prevented me from graduating from art school.. That said.. I do enjoy it.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 It's wine with the alchohol content of Brandy... yeah... it hits you luck a truck if your not careful.
Soulrev Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 ^ What he said. I tried sake for the first time in the Japanese restaurant in Epcot Center in Disney World. I loved it. Still love it. Gotten pretty hammered pretty quickly off of that shit. Definitely best served hot. I know some people like it hot or cold or room temperature.
kellygrrrrrl Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I'm like what is Sake? Like Stake or Lake? ....lol.... OHHHHH "Sah-Ki" that stuff.... Never had it!
Draco1958 Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 A friend served it at a party once. Yes it is an aquired taste but wasn't that bad. Was told it tastes best when served warm, temp about 78 degrees farenheit. And yes, you can get blasted off of it. I own 2 sake sets and wouldn't mind using them again.
Homicidalheathen Posted November 1, 2006 Author Posted November 1, 2006 I tried the plum stuff but it was a bit too sweet for my tastes.......
Brenda Starrr Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Does it give a good buzz though ? Oh yes. It'll fuck you up. I tried to cook boxed mashed potatoes on my electric stove.....IN THE BOX. Now I do homemade.
