Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted November 7, 2006 Author Posted November 7, 2006 They had one electronic voting machine at my polling place... While I was there... only one person usedit... every one else was queing up to use the paper ballots.
BrassFusion Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 We only have paper ballots at my precinct. There were about 8 standing privacy booths and they were all filled, so there was a line. One of the poll volunteers asked if i'd mind sitting at an open table to fill it out, and I'm all "Sure. No problem." I got my shit done quickly because I knew all the stuff I was voting for going in (and straight party bubbles don't hurt either), but then the machine wouldn't take my ballot. My privacy as a voter was COMPROMISED cuz me and the guy had to take it out of the big secrecy folder to wrassle it in there. In the end, it took my ballot and I was NOT disenfranchised. Unless the guy hit a big red button that I didn't notice that would activate the shredder function on the machine cuz he disagreed with my vote. A fun time was had by all.
Msterbeau Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Listening to NPR coverage. Sounds like the Dem's are doing well. Kinda early to really tell.
BrassFusion Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Doing super well. They won the house, and 3 seats are left unaccounted in the Senate. To win senate control, the dems need all three remaining seats, and the gop would only need one. in the three uncounted seats, the dems are all winning so far, each by a very very slim margin. We might not actually know tonight who controls the senate. all this info is as of 10 minutes ago, anyway.
AstralCrux Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 heh..... Well, I finally broke down and asked one of the guys who's been staying here for the past 2 months. He's one of the people that's been all over the state, and many other states setting up all this fun voting stuff. I asked him if it would be challenging to rig an election. The response I got was, nope not too hard if you're good with computers. So, next time we should just rig the election? lol Just in case anyone really wanted to know.
