Wtf? Mourning Doves?

When the apocalypse comes and armageddon comes and the world is rampant, and there is shortages of food and its a dog eats dog wold out there and fend for yourself, I might concider hunting Doves as food.....

But in the meantime, I think I'll stick to eating our mass produced meats, and prevent further waste of already produced meat. Mmmm.....fatty fatty meat... (I say this lightly in a humorous mannor...btw...)

We've already killed out species, and practically made them extinct by hunting for game, just to have horns or pelts on a wall to show off to our buddies...which by the way are NOT being used as clothing OR tools... If there is a plague of Doves, maybe that will re-establish the population of Wolverines, or Bears or Hawks that hunt these birds....perhaps the Doves will eat the bugs that may over populate this year from a warm fall.

Relocate them or something?

Now Flippin Seagulls...kill them.....disease spreading vermins....I HATE those things....

I've been shit on by them, and they swarmed me at the beach.....flippin seagulls.

As much as I would love to blow away seagulls, there a scavenger bird and therefore protected.......doesn't stop me from trying to run them over in the parking lots though :innocent

i heard it was legal to hunt mourning doves year round. the proposal would have stoped that by creating a spacific season with liscences taxes and tags to buy there were also alot of unnoticed ammendmeants about new funding for certian dnr facilities.

so if you voted yes cause you wanted to hunt doves then don't ever start hunting

That's not the case, though my dad thought the same thing. The state ban on hunting mourning doves shall be reinstated as a result of the proposition failing.

Edit: I notice some people are saying, "if you eat it, it's ok to hunt, if you don't want to eat it, don't hunt it."

I can totally agree with that.

But this whole debate, and the ban... it just makes me hungry for dove.

It's hard to tell when someone's serious or kidding about things sometimes. Glad to know it was the latter. :)

There ARE a lot of people out there who do exactly that sort of thing, however. In NC, there is a period of about a month or more where the Turtles just start coming out like crazy - they're all over the roads. Jon stopped to help many across the road, because people actually do go out of their way to kill them.

It's really, really sick.

Yeah if their is any currently not hunted bird out their that needs a good thinning out its those damn canaidan geese. I actually hit one on a mountain bike! Bastards wont move for people, cars, planes, you name it; their they are shitty and hissing at anything that come near them. Man little pricks need to be turned into dinner as far as i'm concerend. As for doves... ehhh I voted the proposal down but not for any centimental reasons. I just prefer to have people focusing on hunting thing that need more attention...like candian geese. stupid people, corrupt politicians, and themselves after a good night of drinking.

I'm personally very fond of Canadian Geese. With a last name like Gosling, you tend to a certain... affinity for certain species.

However, I fully agree they are over-populated, and problematic. I would not vote down a proposal for hunting them.

Freakin Geese......

I was @ the lake one day...I had the whole pond beach and area to myself...it was my day off, and it was not very nice day...overcast and such...but I decided to go and sit by the water.

I was sitting on top a picnic table just next to the water....

eating a bag of dorito's.

Here comes about 3-4 geese....staring at me with thier beedy little eyes....quacking at me for chips...so I threw out a few....

Of course they weren't satisfied, but I had no chips left....I went to go swoop them away from me so I could sit in peace, but no...swooping at them pissed them off....they start come closer, and start hissing at me....snapping at my feet....

all 3-4 of them....

surrounding me...I was in a panic...I thought these freaking things are known to bite and chase....and I was all freakin alone!! all my stuff was UNDER the table...I had nothing, no weapons, and should I reach down, snap goes thier aligator jaw like beaks....they're still hissing at me....

Fortunately I happened to have my cell phone.....which I though well maybe if I sound off my strange little ring tones, they might get scared.

So I tried it.....all of the loudest ring tones I had, and annoying...heh heh...well it worked.

My phone tones saved me from these ferocious feather breasted beasts.....

I thanked god that day that my life was spared.

Freaking geese.....They do taste good.

I was gonna say something here, but I know everyone else is thinking it already, so I'll take the high road and just make another pointless post.

If you could spell correctly or form properly structured sentences, your points might carry more weight.

Hey, lay off, he's probably got a skull shape that makes him bad at spelling.
