bav Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 I'm introducing my roomie to the horror genre of movies, and got a chance to show him Clive Barker's Hellraiser tonight (double feature with Creepshow). It's been a while since I've watched the first one of the series and I had almost forgotten how truly good it really is. Just the right amount of creepiness, gore, and yet a decent plot that actually drives the movie instead of being haphazardly thrown on to try and provide a sense of consistency.
Vater Araignee Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Hey your gonna show your roomie the Michigan trifecta of perfection correct?
SomeDanGuy Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 If he asks about sequels make sure to PRETEND THAT #3 DOESN'T EXIST.
Fierce Critter Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 That was the first horror film that really got to me. The Elm Streets and Friday the 13ths' and their ilk make me laugh more than scared.
Scary Guy Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 Hey 3 was still better than 4 Actually 5 and 6 were decent, I can't wait to see 7 when it comes out. 2 is sitll my favorite. Oh yeah did I mention I've been a member on the cenobite.com boards now for a LONG time (though I hardly post there anymore). Site has tons of information on the movies as well. Has to be my favorite movie series.
SomeDanGuy Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 Seriously? I liked 4 way better than 3, but whatever. Yeah, after 4 they started making movies that weren't...really related to Hellraiser at all. They were still good, just so different.
Rivet_HeadINC Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 Hellraiser was (in my opinion) the best Horror movie of it's time. part III sucked major monkey nuts, but IV brought it all together in one final splatter of blood and guts. Hey Bav, do you remember that Basement Storage area at Dysfunction Junction? I will always love Hellraiser.
bav Posted March 7, 2005 Author Posted March 7, 2005 Basement storage aka the Smoking room aka Hellraiser Chain room?
TheLordShaper Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 I'll have to agree with the general population on this one. Hellraiser 1 and 2 where definitely the best of the movie series. 3 was a interesting off shoot and 4 tied things together nicely but after that they did start going in odd direction especially 6 which seemed more like a psychological thriller then a horror movie. I still own them all and am anxious about another film but I think the series is about played out. Perhaps they should get back to the roots of Hellraiser. I want to see more on leviathan and the process of creating a cenobyte. ~TLS
Rivet_HeadINC Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 Basement storage aka The Smoking Room aka Hellraiser Chain room? Yup, that's the one. I wish wh could have done what we wanted to do to that room, it would have been soo much fun to scare the crap out of the rest of the complex. But life goes on.
