pomba gira Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Someone please please help me... I have some kind of odd & infuriating glitch going where everything works but the trackball/mouse. Some experimentation with keyboard indicates that everything is still there & working, but the cursor is more or less frozen in one spot and there's no response to anything done w/the trackball. The weird thing is, this started with my phone glitching. The sequence of events went like this: 1. did something trivial (like check time) w/my smartphone (Treo 600), & as I put it down noticed the "welcome" screen come on. 2. checked phone, sure enough it had magically wiped itself clean of all my data. 3. HotSync phone to computer, everything seems to be all good. 4. Set up Palm Desktop to re-load games to phone. 5. Computer and phone both crash. 6. Do a soft reset on phone, phone goes back to normal. 7. Reboot 'puter, seems OK except for the trackball issue. 8. Reboot a few more times w/same result. I bought a cheap mouse & tried using that, to no avail. No idea what to try now. If any of our DGN technomages can help me, I'll be greatly in your debt... 'cos I really, really need my computer! I'm using a relative's 'puter right now, will be here till about 3:30. After that I'll set YM so messages go to my phone, send me a # to call you at. THANKS!!
HipsterDufus Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Is the mouse USB or PS/2? (Round or rectangle plug?)
pomba gira Posted November 21, 2006 Author Posted November 21, 2006 Is the mouse USB or PS/2? (Round or rectangle plug?) USB... I tried plugging into a couple different ports, too
pomba gira Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 OK I fixed it... dug up the adaptor & connected the trackball to the PS2 port. Seems to be fine now... BUT... the USB ports appear to be non-functional. Nothing shows in "my computer" or elsewhere when I plug in a flash drive or card reader. Scared to even try syncing the Treo again... I want my games
