Fierce Critter Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I'm doing a reinstall of XP on my laptop. It's asking me FAT or NTFS, and I haven't a clue what to pick. Suggestions, please???
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 NTFS FAT is slower and you would loose much of what security XP had if you choose it.
Fierce Critter Posted November 26, 2006 Author Posted November 26, 2006 I had already done some Googling and opted for the NTSF. But thanks anyhow, guys.
Fierce Critter Posted November 26, 2006 Author Posted November 26, 2006 Rugh-roah. The following value in the .SIF file used by Setup is corrupted or missing: Value 0 on the line in section [sourceDisksFiles] with key "SP2.cab." Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3. Advice guys? Is this a problem on the computer or on my install disk?
Fierce Critter Posted November 27, 2006 Author Posted November 27, 2006 Nevermind - had the wrong boot disk program.
littlepinkkitty Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 you cant run XP on FAT 32 XP only runs NTFS
Dubh Aingeal Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 you cant run XP on FAT 32 XP only runs NTFS XP will run in fat32. Its just not a wise choice to do so due to limitations in the security, amongst others limitations.
Scary Guy Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Although FAT is faster, just want you to get your facts accurate. NTFS really is the better choice though even with the barely noticeable speed reduction.
